Met with the student today to begin our sessions. We covered introductions to limits, their theory, and application to calculus in general. I went over techniques for evaluating limits and pointed out some helpful websites to help with useful algebraic and trig identities. He doesn't seem to have too much difficulty with the material and I don't see any trouble at the moment with going forward.

The student is taking the second quarter of a calculus course for non-science majors. I spent the session with him going over and explaining fundamental trig concepts and identities, including the unit circle, graphs of trig functions, and identities. We also worked some trig limit problems using the squeeze theorem. Overall, he has a pretty good idea of the concepts. We will continue going over this material tomorrow morning.

In this session, we introduced the idea of exponential growth and the number "e," as well as a few applied modeling problems. The student is always interested in real world applications. "E" is used as the base by which populations (as a general term) grow, die, and are distributed. We talked about exponential modeling, logarithmic plots, and statistical distribution, both at the macro and quantum levels.
