I graduated from Drexel University with a degree in Biology and two minors in Spanish and International Area Studies. I am currently working at the NIH. I have experience tutoring college, high school, and middle school students. During tutoring sessions I like to pinpoint where the problem areas are and begin by working with students on the fundamentals. Once the basics are covered I like to work through problems together as a way to learn material, but ask that students spend some time studying topics at home/doing practice problems that we can go over during the tutoring sessions.

Most survived the reassembly stage, while others were mourned by my mother's pocketbook. When I was in the fifth grade, my mother gave me my first toolkit. To say the least, I took apart everything in the house that could be disassembled with a screwdriver. Along with deconstructing anything that gained my interest, I also enjoyed crafting things.I associate these childhood curiosities with my current interests as I find myself wondering how natural phenomena occur and daydreaming about inventions. Studying the interactions between humans and technology have been in my interests for most of my high school and college career. My short-term goal is to explore different focuses so that I can develop an understanding of my personal interests in the field of physics. My long-term goal is to use my passion for sharing knowledge as an educator and to help others find what peaks their curiosities.

Chemistry is complex but doesn't have to be difficult. As both a student of Chemistry and a Chemistry department tutor while in college, conquering this demanding subject requires the right mindset and tools. Although these constant inquiries drove my parents crazy, they ultimately led me to study the Sciences. I could not wait to study Science in high school and hurried home the first day to start reading my textbooks. But there was a problem. The textbooks were not exciting at all. They were also barely comprehensible. Science was taught in a language I did not initially understand. I have worked with students of all ages from elementary school to college students in a variety of subjects including standardized test prep like the ACT/SAT/PSAT, college level chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and biology. I also have experience with high school at the AP level in Calculus, Biology, and Chemistry. I graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry and now work at MIT in the biology department with a focus in genomics. I really love teaching all types of chemistry and biology as that was my degree in college, but I also love test prep because I know how overwhelming those exams can feel and I want to empower students with the keys to success. My teaching philosophy is I like to establish a good rapport with students and ensure that they are having a fun learning process. This manifest in the form of banter or jokes embedded so that the tutoring feels more interactive rather than someone talking at you. At the beginning of my second year in the program, I was hired as a tutor to help other nursing students. I developed a passion to help others improve academic performance. Before an appointment with a student, I prefer to find out what topic the student is covering in their class and where the student is struggling. I then give the student an opportunity to work through similar problems with guidance as necessary. Currently as a medical student at SLU, I've grown to appreciate this method more and more.
