I graduated from Drexel University with a degree in Biology and two minors in Spanish and International Area Studies. I am currently working at the NIH. I have experience tutoring college, high school, and middle school students. During tutoring sessions I like to pinpoint where the problem areas are and begin by working with students on the fundamentals. Once the basics are covered I like to work through problems together as a way to learn material, but ask that students spend some time studying topics at home/doing practice problems that we can go over during the tutoring sessions.

I am a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I received my Bachelor's of Science and Master's of Science Degrees in Chemistry with a focus in polymer science. I am also currently applying to medical school. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about chemistry, biology, biochemistry, and organic chemistry. Having been a student-athlete in college, with volunteering, physician shadowing, and work commitments, I understand the difficulties with school and struggling with certain subjects. I tutor to help other students learn more, find success in the classroom, and do better for a brighter future.

No toy was safe in my hands. As a child, I always took my toys apart to see their inner components and how they produced sound or light. Most survived the reassembly stage, while others were mourned by my mother's pocketbook. When I was in the fifth grade, my mother gave me my first toolkit. To say the least, I took apart everything in the house that could be disassembled with a screwdriver. Along with deconstructing anything that gained my interest, I also enjoyed crafting things.I associate these childhood curiosities with my current interests as I find myself wondering how natural phenomena occur and daydreaming about inventions. Studying the interactions between humans and technology have been in my interests for most of my high school and college career. My short-term goal is to explore different focuses so that I can develop an understanding of my personal interests in the field of physics. My long-term goal is to use my passion for sharing knowledge as an educator and to help others find what peaks their curiosities.

Chemistry is complex but doesn't have to be difficult. As both a student of Chemistry and a Chemistry department tutor while in college, conquering this demanding subject requires the right mindset and tools. As a tutor, students sought out my services to help understand key concepts, homework practice problems, exams, and lab write-ups. My experience tutoring a diverse group of Chemistry students allows me to know where the difficulties lie, where students typically fall behind, and the pitfalls that creep up on exams. My tutoring style deconstructs concepts in a way that students can personally relate to, and by using visual analogies, I demystify the math between the atoms while not reinforcing memorization like many instructors. Because of my success, my students often told me that I should be the teacher. So I decided to do just that and am now on the fast track to become a high school Chemistry teacher. After college, I worked at a pathology company preparing and screening cytology specimens for the presence of cancer. While I found the work rewarding, it was largely unfulfilling. Tutoring and teaching are my passion, but in my free time I also enjoy backpacking, kayaking, and tennis.Whatever your chemistry challenge, I am happy and able to help you meet your unique needs.

Growing up my mind was filled with questions. Why was the ocean salty but not the Great Lakes? How much does the earth weigh? Although these constant inquiries drove my parents crazy, they ultimately led me to study the Sciences. I could not wait to study Science in high school and hurried home the first day to start reading my textbooks. But there was a problem. The textbooks were not exciting at all. They were also barely comprehensible. Science was taught in a language I did not initially understand. As your tutor, I can help translate the language of Science to one you can understand and master. I can also teach you useful study habits and techniques that will help you succeed in a competitive academic environment. Using real life examples, acronyms, and good study hygiene will make science classes easier than you ever imagined!I developed these study habits and techniques while earning my Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology from the University of Puget Sound (Seattle). I graduated summa cum laude and was awarded honors in my major. I am a certified tutor in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Psychology. I became a tutor to teach students the tricks I learned and to spend more time with the subjects I love!

I am a graduate of Clark University where I received my B.A in Physics and Mathematics. I grew up going between Los Angeles and Paris, always in a French school so I quickly became bilingual.I have always loved science, in particular physics and mathematics and have been lucky enough to share this with others through tutoring. I can help with all levels of math and physics up through graduate level course work. I also can tutor all levels of French as I have taken the French baccalaureat. I started tutoring in high school, everything from math, literature, to French and Latin. I have worked mostly with high school, college students and adults, but have also helped younger students accomplish their goals. I love teaching and find it wonderful when I help my students understand complex concepts. Though hard science can be scary, all my students have come to have a much deeper understanding of it which is a reward in itself. In my free time I enjoy traveling, playing music, and computer programming. In my free time I like to discover new things about the city

I earned my Bachelors degree in Chemistry from Brigham Young University. Since then, I've been working as a chemist, teacher, and tutor. I'm currently working on a Masters Degree in Teaching. My favorite thing about teaching is helping students learn how awesome science is. Everything we interact with everyday is made possible because of it. I fully believe that anyone can become great at math or science.I am also an accomplished amatuer musician. I play piano and low brass instruments. I've played all over the world, and am very active in the Kansas City area. Aside from my family, music is my passion.

I am a big advocate in the idea that the first step to succeeding in many avenues in life is showing up with a positive attitude and being excited to learn. Being able to provide students with the tools for academic success is something I deeply love because I believe success in the classroom spills over to better outcomes in the real world like increased confidence and self-esteem. I have worked with students of all ages from elementary school to college students in a variety of subjects including standardized test prep like the ACT/SAT/PSAT, college level chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and biology. I also have experience with high school at the AP level in Calculus, Biology, and Chemistry. I graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry and now work at MIT in the biology department with a focus in genomics. I really love teaching all types of chemistry and biology as that was my degree in college, but I also love test prep because I know how overwhelming those exams can feel and I want to empower students with the keys to success. My teaching philosophy is I like to establish a good rapport with students and ensure that they are having a fun learning process. This manifest in the form of banter or jokes embedded so that the tutoring feels more interactive rather than someone talking at you. I like tutoring to be a setting where students can feel comfortable asking questions so any knowledge gaps can be filled. I know the importance of studying hard, but also maintaining a healthy balance of fun to prevent burnout and I keep that in mind when tutoring to ensure that student's mental health is protected. A fun fact about myself is I love arts and crafts and have recently started designing my own clothing for fun! Looking forward to meeting you all!

Hello! While in high school (native Chicagoan), I was enrolled in a two year practical nursing program. At the beginning of my second year in the program, I was hired as a tutor to help other nursing students. I developed a passion to help others improve academic performance. I tutored small groups as well as one-on-one sessions. I reviewed what was covered in class and explained concepts that students did not understand. I also compiled practice problems for the students to ensure that they understood the concepts and could apply information critically. Once I finished high school, I attended Saint Louis University (SLU) and earned a degree in Biochemistry. I worked as an athletic tutor and helped students in General and Physical Chemistry, College Algebra, World History, Basic to Intermediate Spanish and English Composition courses. Most of the sessions I conducted were one-on-one but I also tutored a number of group sessions for General Chemistry. Before an appointment with a student, I prefer to find out what topic the student is covering in their class and where the student is struggling. During the session, I will walk the student through a problem, making an effort to explain and break down the problem. I then give the student an opportunity to work through similar problems with guidance as necessary. Currently as a medical student at SLU, I've grown to appreciate this method more and more. It is important to ensure my students understand the fundamental concepts and then be able to apply them backward and forward. For subjects such as English and composition courses, I help the student successfully edit their work and give the student tips and suggestions to improve their writing and editing skills. I try to tailor the session to the student and work based on their needs. I strive to explain everything in a manner that's easy for the student to understand and I encourage the student to practice good study habits as well as become more engaged in class."
