Algebra Tutoring review by Erin in Wood Dale, IL
We introduced solving a set of equations using the elimination method (eliminating one variable through combination and then using that answer to solve for the other variable, then checking both variables in both equations). We practiced using the workbook provided by the student, and she was given a few problems to practice between sessions.

Algebra Tutoring review by Morenike in Wood Dale, IL
The student understands the computation of dividing decimals by decimals, but minor errors sometimes cause her to calculate an incorrect answer. We spent most of the session trying to rectify the common type of errors she makes. We will continue to address this as needed in future sessions until it is no longer an issue. We ended the session with solving the inequality practice problems.

Algebra Tutoring review by Neil in Wood Dale, IL
We continued to work through Algebra material, and made a lot of great progress. We covered inequalities, graphing inequalities, graphing systems of inequalities, absolute values, functions, graphing functions, and probabilities. For next time, the student is supposed to bring his graphing calculator, so I can show him how to use it. He's also supposed to see if the course that he's working on has some sort of comprehensive final that we can work through. We've pretty much caught him up through the algebra coursework that he was missing, and are planning to finish next time.

Algebra Tutoring review by Anna in Wood Dale, IL
The student and I covered fractions, exponents, decimals, rounding decimals, converting decimals to fractions, and money. When I pulled out the coins from my wallet to give her a more visual experience, she did very well with that particular topic. We will work on solely multiplication and division until it becomes automatic for her so that she is well prepared for any mental math to come. I included study skills and strategies as normal. The student has learned a lot since our first day together, and her knowledge can only grow the more we work together.

Algebra Tutoring review by Leslie in Wood Dale, IL
For something a little different, we worked on practice assessment exam and SAT questions. She had no problem working through the assessment exam Open Response problem, and she double-checked her responses when two parts of the question gave conflicting responses. Afterwards I showed her some practice SAT Math questions that covered material she'd seen before but needed to drag out of her memory to actually use. I also taught her a few test-taking strategies that have worked for me, and she liked seeing how those SAT questions are different from the straight-forward HW questions she's seen so far.
