I am currently a fourth grade teacher in Harlem. I live in Astoria, Queens. I have been teaching for five years and I am very passionate about teaching. I have taught math, reading, writing, science and social studies at the elementary level and am certified to teach special education as well.

I'm a big believer in the Socratic Method and allowing the student to realize the answer through curiosity.

I am proud to say my student made it on the school honor roll for the first time. I view tutoring as a form of giving back to my community and as a mutual learning experience for me and my student. My teaching style stresses focusing on separating concepts that my student already knows from those that they are struggling with. I am a concentrator in the History of Science which involves the study of the development of knowledge. It is amazing to see how systems and thought evolve. History of Science has been amazing in changing my consideration of what is science and who gets a chance to live in our world which inspired my change to the non-medical path of history of science towards public health.

I am an 8th grade Language Arts teacher with a passion for reading and writing. I love the way reading a novel can pick you up and bring you anywhere. Someplace magical, someplace mysterious. Writing is an outlet used for expression and can be very therapeutic. Finding your creativity is a fun way to get to know yourself better.
