"I dont have the math gene" Ive heard this phrase more times than I can count over the course of my career. But in reality math works more like a muscle than a 'gene'. Just like with any other muscle your abilities can and will improve with a little bit of hard work and dedication.

I love math and the only reason I do is because I had great math teachers through middle school and high school. I want to give other students similar experiences to what I had.

I am a Computer Systems Engineering Student at Estrella Mountain Community College in Arizona. I have been tutoring math to middle school through college students for almost ten years. I have also tutored college students in music theory for over a year. I am a firm believer that education in the arts is just as important as education in STEM.
