Hello I just graduated from ASU with my bachelors in Biology. I have been a tutor for about 3 years now at EMCC . My favorite class is biology specifically BIO 205, but I also enjoy tutoring chemistry. I enjoy tutoring chemistry because it requires both memorizing and problem solving. I currently am working full time at a graduate university as a lab technician .

Growing up from my childhood I have always loved math and did much better in it than any other class subject. I would feel stupid in class when they were teaching other class and super smart when it came to math. I was considered smart by people who are way smarter than me. But because I excelled in one thing that they did not they thought I was doing great in everything else which I did not. I now have a degree in Electrical Engineering and feel strong tutoring for math and science subjects.

I am an experienced youth leader with 10+ years experience in helping families thrive through a positive developmental approach to education and direct support. My education at Arizona State University had a heavy focus in both research and practical application. Upon receiving my BA in psychology, I chose to delay applications to graduate schools and continue working in the field of community mental health where I assisted high needs children with their mental health, educational, and home stabilization needs.I will be applying to Graduate Schools for a Masters in Occupational Therapy in 2021 and hope to specialize in Mental Health and Gerontology.My favorite subjects to tutor are writing, science, and reading comprehension. I love helping folks find their voice and strengthen the way they communicate with the world at large and I have a particular affinity for the way science and art intersect.I believe that learning is a multi-modal process involving a successful application of various teaching styles, in conjunction with other positive social and environmental factors that lead to long term retention and overall success.I currently captain an underdog roller derby team, and play for one of the highest ranked leagues in the nation. As a Senior in Computer Science, I'm very passionate about helping students in their fundamental knowledge in the subjects I am qualified for and for standardized testing. Outside of school, I am also a volunteer ESL tutor for refugee kids!

I have lived in Phoenix for the past 19 years. I have 9 younger siblings and the youngest one will be starting kindergarten in August (can you believe that?). I am currently going for two Master's degrees from ASU. The most important thing that I remember to do throughout my day is to keep a smile on my face. I currently work at Grand Canyon University as an Instructional Assistant for a few classes, meaning that I assist different professors with day-to-day tasks. Due to my job I work regularly with students in a variety of courses such as Sociology, Communication, and Psychology. I also help many students with their academic papers, lending a hand in terms of making sure they answer all parts of the paper and that everything flows smoothly. For me, the best moments are when I can sit down with a student that doesn't understand the content and through some time and effort, help them reach that "A-ha moment" where it all clicks together.

Since 2011, I have been tutoring in the San Francisco Bay Area (San Ramon, Pleasanton, Dublin, Danville, San Jose, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Milpitas).Students from Dougherty Valley High School, San Ramon Valley High School, California High School, Dublin High School, Evergreen Valley High School have all been my clients. I have been tutoring Geometry, Algebra 1 and 2, Precalculus, AP Calculus and Calculus AB and BC for students from these high schools. I have also been helping students with test prep for SAT/ACT Math. Students I have tutored have gone on to Stanford, Berkeley, UCLA, UC Davis, UCSD, UIUC, UPitt etc. College students from Berkeley, UC Santa Cruz, Carnegie-Mellon have also sought my tutoring in specialized subjects.
