Physics Tutoring review by Mithila in Lehi, UT
Today, the student and I worked on projectile motion. Two of the questions were to help her understand that the horizontal velocity remains constant unless air resistance is taken into account. The first problem dealt with calculating the different components of an initial velocity vector. She had a good understanding about vector algebra, and was familiar with the kinematic equations. We had to talk for a little bit about establishing the symbols to be used in the equations. I had her calculate the required quantities while I did the same, giving her some practice.

Today, we covered the photoelectric effect, wave-particle duality, de Broglie wavelength and frequency, and ended on Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle. In addition to the de Broglie wavelength, we also talked about the vibrational qualities of all matter and how matter can be suspended in nodes made from sound or light. I also showed the student a video from YouTube demonstrating how foam beads and water were suspended above an array of speakers, which he enjoyed learning about.

Physics Tutoring review by John in Lehi, UT
Today, we worked on motion mapping, distance over time graphs, velocity over time graphs, etc. We haven't reached the "lightbulb" moment just yet, but he seems to understand it a bit better than he did when the session started.

Physics Tutoring review by Harriet in Lehi, UT
Today, we worked through some problems in chapters 7, 8, and 9 that have been sticking points. Most of the conceptual work concerned conservation of energy and accounting for all possible types of energy at each step in the problems. We also talked about the workings of springs, Hooke's law, and spring constants.
