The student and I focused on decimals in depth. We used an online visual to compare the size of tenths and hundredths. We applied this to problems that involved ordering decimals from least to greatest. I got him to understand that when you convert the decimals to fractions with the same denominator, the decimals can be more easily compared. I also tied this to our work with the visual involving the area of a square. We also practiced turning fractions into decimals by dividing the denominator into the numerator.

We covered ratios and percents. Student 1 and Student 2 did very well with these concepts. They had a strong comprehension of percents and ratios. They were very excited about the lesson. It was a productive session.

Today we completed two homework assignments that the student had. One was a practice sheet of addition and one was a reading passage with comprehension questions. We also reviewed past concepts including time and counting change.

The first student and I went through list of sight words, created sentences with sight words and practiced writing sight words. The second student and I did some free writing with a selected topic, proofread his writing piece, made some corrections, and read aloud from a book he had out.

The student and I worked on counting up when solving subtraction problems. She did really well. The concept is still a little new for her, and the consistency is not there quite yet. She's showing huge improvements. Overall, she did very well.

During the session, we did three hours worth of material. With Student 1 I reviewed imaginary numbers and negative numbers with addition/subtraction and multiplication/division. We also reviewed exponents, negative exponents and negative roots. With Student 2, we went over star types and star formations, did reading exercises, completed handwriting exercises, and we saw a few informative videos. Student 3 and I started a book of memories, which I am dictating and which we are reading/revising together. We did coloring exercises. We reviewed the alphabet and handwriting, and did reading exercises together.
