I am a dedicated, highly motivated individual with a passion for enhancing the learning experiences of others. I have taught as a classroom teacher and as a volunteer at state and national parks for the past few years. I focus particularly on highlighting connections between various subject matter to individuals' everyday lives. After I graduated with my Masters degree from Johns Hopkins University in 2014, I moved to New Mexico to pursue a career in environmental conservation. I currently work as a supervisor for an AmeriCorps program that provides opportunities for young adults to gain skills working in the field of conservation while also receiving training for personal and professional development. I aspire to become a ranger with the National Park Service and a freelance writer.

As a degreed engineer from the University of Illinois, math and science have always been my passion. And since I was 16 years old as a high school sophomore, I have also enjoyed sharing knowledge with others. I was part of the peer tutoring program at my high school, and during college, I tutored fellow students in math and science classes.More specifically, I specialize in high school and college-level math/science courses: algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus, physics and chemistry. Test prep for ACT, SAT, GMAT and GRE are also included. During college, I always enjoyed working with fellow students in learning material because often each person had a different perspective on certain concepts and this allowed me to view things differently which I always found quite helpful during school. As I moved to graduate school I took on teaching assistant roles in various courses. I found that working through problems with students was a very rewarding part of my graduate studies. This enjoyment lead me to pursue academics and I have been a tenured associate professor for almost 6 years teaching mostly in the Department of Chemistry at my College. I have taught various disciplines of chemistry including health professions related chemistry, general chemistry, upper level quantitative chemistry as well as the associated laboratory materials found in these courses. I look forward to sharing my knowledge in these subjects and hope I can provide you with the right guidance to excel in you studies.

I am a current undergraduate student at Duke University's Pratt School of Engineering. I am pursuing a bachelor of science in engineering in mechanical engineering, a minor in computer science, and a certificate in innovation and entrepreneurship. As an engineer, I believe one of my greatest strengths is breaking down complex ideas into manageable steps that are easy to follow. I have an abundance of STEM tutoring experience through my high school's National Honors Society chapter and as a freelance tutor. Additionally, I have experience working with children as an instructor for Techsplorer's engineering camps/workshops and as a member of the YMCA Leader's Club. The subjects I enjoy teaching are Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, Statistics, Trigonometry, Physics, and SAT/ACT Math and Science Prep. I believe that as a passionate younger college student, I am able to connect with students more effectively, as I was in their shoes not too long ago! I am a fourth-year medical student at New York University School of Medicine. As a soon-to-be physician, I have vast experience talking to patients about complicated medical conditions, treatments, medications and various diseases. It is my job to make sure that they understand what I am talking about in a way that allows them to explain it to others. I believe this is one of my best qualities to work as a tutor; the ability to mold concepts to in a way that others are able to comprehend them with ease. I have had many years of teaching experience, which has varied in many ways throughout my life. When I was a teenager, I worked as a swimming instructor for children ages 3 to 12. This allowed me to foster a specific teaching technique where I patiently worked with my students to dissipate their fears (like the fear of water), and build the trust needed for them to allow me to explain very complicated concepts in a way that they'll understand it. I used this technique later in college while I tutored fellow classmates and other college students various subjects, including: math, chemistry, physics, Spanish and biology. After college, I worked as a middle school and high school tutor, teaching math and sciences to children in East Orange, New Jersey.In addition to my teaching experience, I graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers University with a GPA of 3.8 and a bachelors in both Chemistry and Spanish. My strongest areas of study are English, math, writing and reading. I very much enjoy science and history as well. I love tutoring in all areas because for me tutoring is an opportunity to help someone reach their goals and change their life in one way or another. I love that education provides people with opportunities and a better life, and it makes me happy to know that my tutoring can help make that happen. My teaching philosophy is that I believe every student has the right to a free and fair education. I have been tutoring for over 2 years at a refugee tutoring center, helping refugees adapt to their lives socially and academically. I have tutored people of all ages, including elementary-school-aged, middle-school-aged, high-school-aged, and adults in all types of subjects. After every class, my students are excited to come back for more!My teaching philosophy is to not just help students rotely memorize material, but make them truly excited to learn and increase their essential critical understanding of the subject.I am currently a student at Duke University, working towards a degree in molecular and cellular biology (which is my favorite subject to tutor!). However, I also tutor in English, math, ACT/SAT prep, almost any subject that you may need!In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends, listening to music, baking, and drawing.

Currently, I am working concurrently on my JD (at Duke University) and my Ph.D. in Education (at Boston College) and hope to one day combine the two degrees by working in policy. I have tutored or been in the education field my entire life and love it when I am able to help a scholar learn something new. I love to tutor a broad range of subjects but primarily focus on History and English. I particularly love working with scholars on their college essays and finding ways to get their unique voice and experience into writing. Education is crucial and it is important to work with scholars so that they realize the vast amount of knowledge there is in the world.
