My strong points are biology and chemistry, and I am Praxis and MEGA certified to teach both in the state of Missouri. I am a graduate of East Stroudsburg University where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a focus on Criminal Justice and my Master of Education Degree and Certification in Elementary Education. I have been teaching for over 25 years, most of those years were spent teaching 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade. I have recently become a caregiver for my parents. My dad has dementia and my mom has Alzheimer's. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Math, Reading, Science and writing. In my classroom I worked very hard to make sure the students were engaged and enjoyed learning. I believe that every student is an individual and education is not one size fits all. I am passionate about teaching, and love to be creative and have fun while learning. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, spending time with my family and dogs, walking and playing soccer. I'm a huge Star Wars fan too.

I recently graduated from Mercer University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Beginning Fall of 2016 I will be attending UNT Pharmacy School in Fort Worth. I have tutored for many years in a variety of subjects ranging from the sciences to public speaking, writing, and english. In high school I coached speech and debate for middle school and high school students. I can assist with test prep as well as projects. I like to make learning fun and enjoyable and so I try to use a variety of resources to help students relate to material as well as retain it. I believe that learning should involve real world experiences. My goal is for students to become masters of their education so that in the end, the student can in fact become the teacher.Aside from tutoring I enjoy going to concerts, singing karaoke, camping, reading, and watching movies.

My career in education began abroad in SE Asia as a TEFL certified teacher. I taught both TEFL and Elementary Science throughout different regions of Thailand. This passion for education led me to teach in South America as well, where I taught written and conversational English to children, adolescents and adults in Colombia. I am also a certified Preschool teacher in the state of Florida.

I'm a college student currently working towards a BS in Data Science and a MS in Computer Science. I've had the most experience tutoring high school students in their various math subjects. I especially enjoy helping students prepare for the ACT, because I believe in results-based teaching and I love seeing my students succeed.

I'm just trying to help kids get better at math and science. Whether it be algebra or calculus, I feel it is my personal duty to help whoever needs it improve their grade or their test score. After graduating, I moved to Tanzania as a Peace Corps Volunteer where I taught hundreds of secondary school students both physics and math. Now that I am back in the United States, I work at Children's Defense Fund as the Youth Programs Associate. In my free time, I like to hike with my dog, read, and cook!
