I am a current veterinary student and lifelong lover of science, literature and learning. My background is primarily in biology and the life sciences, and in addition to my veterinary program, I also work as part of a research team in comparative oncology that develops treatments for cancer that benefit both humans and animals. I am passionate about increasing public understanding of science, and am happy to work with students of any level of science education.I also believe strongly that written and verbal communication skills are essential to success in any academic path, and want to help students refine these skills so that they can bring their thoughts and ideas into the world with clarity and power! In my spare time, I enjoy being outdoors hiking, biking, and nordic skiing. I also enjoy rock climbing, horseback riding, yoga, and hanging out with my cat.

I am a Mechanical Engineering student at Seattle Pacific University, and I love to help others grasp challenging concepts. I enjoy filling in gaps in students' understanding as well as working with students who are new to a subject. In the past, I have worked with students on a variety of mathematics subjects such as: algebra, trigonometry, and calculus. I am confident I can help students grasp just about any math concept. I have always had a drive to understand things completely and this has has helped me develop a comprehensive understanding of high school and early college mathematics and physics. Mathematics and physics are my favorite subjects to tutor because I appreciate the consistent logic that is fundamental to these to these topics. I am confident I can help any student grasp difficult math concepts.I take a systematic, analytical approach to most effectively and efficiently improve the mathematic and/or scientific ability of my clients. In doing this, I follow a four-step process:1) identify the specific, problematic concepts2) develop teaching strategies tailored to the student's age level and personality3) work through the concepts with the student4) use continuous check-ins to make sure the student is truly learning the material, making appropriate changes to my teaching style when necessary.Outside of academics, I love to be creative and to exercise outdoors. Crochet and writing are two of my favorite creative activities. Also, as a result of my participation in band and choir throughout high school, I like to listen to, learn, and write music. Lastly, I love to bike and swim. Whether it is a short ride to the river or a 300-mile ride to the Oregon coast, biking satisfies my inner desire for freedom, and the destination often involves a cool place to dive in.

I am a current sophomore pursuing a degree in Biology from Brown University, as well as a certificate in Hispanic Studies. I love to help others find the joy in learning, and have tutored high school students in math, Spanish, biology, and chemistry for three years. I also have coordinated and staffed a free summer camp for under-resourced children in my area, focusing on environmental and natural sciences, so I am highly experienced in producing engaging and interactive lessons for a wide range of ages. My lab internships at Duke University, Brown University, and UNC-Chapel Hill, as well as college coursework, have further amplified my interest in biology and chemistry. Additionally, I work as a volunteer medical interpreter at Clnica Esperanza in Rhode Island, and conduct administrative and check-in procedures with Spanish-speaking patients. This opportunity, as well as the upper-level Spanish culture and literature courses I have taken at Brown, have honed my fluency in the language, and I would love to help you develop strong Spanish reading, writing, and conversational abilities. I also have taken a multitude of standardized tests, including AP, SAT, and SAT Subject Tests, and offer test preparation in these areas. Generally, my tutoring style focuses on developing effective thought processes over memorization, so that students are able to apply and enjoy what they learn. Outside of academia, I play the saxophone and piano, and prior experience with tutoring middle-school woodwind students has prepared me for additional tutoring work. I love the outdoors, and hike, bike, and kayak whenever I can! I'm also an avid reader, and enjoy attempting new culinary creations.

I am a graduate student at Oregon Health & Science University obtaining my degree in Environmental Science & Engineering. I received my Bachelor of Arts from Willamette University in Biology with minors in Physics and Spanish. I have taught several basic biology and aquatic microbiology classes to middle and high schoolers, as well as mentored high school and undergraduate interns on independent research projects. Microbiology is my favorite subject to tutor, as it is always a joy to see students discover this unseen world that exists right under our nose! My teaching philosophy is to present the subject to my students in a way that places the knowledge into a context that is relevant for them and to lead them through complex concepts with real world examples. In my free time, I like being active and enjoying all that Oregon has to offer, whether it be running, swimming, hiking, or camping with my dogs and am currently training for my first triathlon!

I graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. I was interested in teaching because I recognized my deep love for learning and wanted to inspire others to develop that same passion. Before becoming a certified teacher, I was a volunteer tutor for school and community outreach programs such as Seeds of Success, Best Buddies, and Peer Assistance Leaders. I also went on a service mission where I taught a variety of people on a daily basis. These experiences helped me to relate to students individually and teach with their interests and personality in mind. In preparation to teach 5th and 1st grade, I was formally trained in current teaching strategies for all subjects. I received additional, focused training on Phonics, which made reading my favorite subject to teach. Besides being a proud wife and mother, I enjoy varied hobbies such as cooking, yoga, hiking, architectural design, and learning the Portuguese language.

Thank you for trusting me to take your child further in their education. I am an advocate of kids, learning and education. You will get dedicated and committed sessions from me, with friendly communication and organized lessons. If virtual learning and the effects of missing school due to COVID have not been the most kind to your child, I can help fill the gap. I have been in the education field in some capacity for over 30 years. I am a mother of 7 children, all of whom I've homeschooled from kindergarten through high school. A teacher by trade, with a masters degree in education, along with passion and care, keeps me sharp and ready to meet your child and their needs. Thank you. Regina M Gerace

I received my Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. I then attended graduate school and graduated with a Master's in Electrical Engineering with a focus on electromagnetics and signal processing. Most of my tutoring experience has come from when I was in undergrad. I lead the Tau Beta Pi physics tutoring for mechanics for first year undergraduate students. Throughout the years, I have here and there picked up other math and physics related tutoring opportunities.I mostly tutor math and physics. This can be Algebra all the way up to calculus for math. With physics, I would prefer basic mechanics or something related to electromagnetics or analog electronic circuits. My favorite subject to tutor is analog electronics. I just enjoy the ideas behind it and understand it very well.My tutoring philosophy really stems from trying to get the most out of the student, whatever that may look like. Some of my hobbies are family time (2 boys), woodworking, electronics and a good story.
