I recently graduated from Portland State University where I received a Bachelors of Science with a major in Mathematics as well as a minor in Secondary Education. I currently am looking into Masters of Education programs because I plan on being a Mathematics teacher. During my undergrad I worked as a tutor both privately, as well as employed by Portland Community College. During this time I worked with a wide variety of students ranging from 16-50 years of age, and developed strong tutoring, communication, and critical thinking skills and strategies that have been very useful for students who struggle with Mathematics courses. My favorite subject to tutor is Mathematics, primarily Calculus, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra. I would describe my tutoring style as fun and adaptive. I understand that while a majority of students struggle with Math, making it fun usually helps take away many of these struggles, as well as limits a student from becoming bored or disinterested in the subject. I also know that each student learns differently, being able to adapt to each students current learning style only helps make them more comfortable with Mathematics and usually limits the students confusion.

I currently attend the University of Pittsburgh and have almost completed a double major in Biological Sciences and Spanish with a minor in Chemistry. In high school, I also completed the International Baccalaureate program and completed some AP classes as well. My career plans are to go to medical school and become a physician. I have scored A's in all my classes, so I hope to help you score well in your classes as well! I mainly specialize in tutoring any type of Biology, Chemistry, Human Physiology, or Spanish course. I also tutor for standardized tests, such as the SAT and the MCAT. I recently took the MCAT and scored very high on the science sections (132 Psych, 131 Chem/Phys, 129 Bio), so I would be a good resource for MCAT material as well.In terms of tutoring experience, I am a Teaching Assistant at my university in various biology and chemistry courses. I was in high school when I first fell in love. How could I resist its simplicity and elegance? I'm referring to math, of course, but I didn't always like the subject. Until about age 16, I thought of math as a boring, mind-numbing process of blindly memorizing formulas and then forgetting them after the test, but a series of wonderful teachers showed me the truth. I had thought that everything in math was invented arbitrarily just to torture students, but actually it all made sense in a deep way. When I caught a glimpse of what math really was, I found it irresistible and I ended up majoring in math in college at UChicago. I'm currently a Master's student in Computer Science at NYU.
