I'm a recent graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude in both Biochemistry and Chinese. I enjoyed being involved on campus- I'm a member of Phi Gamma Nu business fraternity and Kappa Delta social sorority. I volunteer with two local outreach programs for teens and am a member of my school's International Relations Council.I am an experienced tutor who loves to teach and help others. I have over 400 hours of tutoring experience in a variety of high school subjects, particularly in the hard sciences and math up to calculus. At the same time, I have experience tutoring lower level subjects, such as middle school math, in my breaks at home. I have also worked as an English as a Second Language Tutor for a graduate native Mandarin speaker. I think it's the diversity of my tutoring experiences that makes me such a patient, dedicated tutor- no matter who it is, I can develop a personalized teaching style for them.As a tutor, I believe that it's my job not only to teach students how to do the current problem, but to develop a thorough understanding of the concepts behind the problems. I use an extremely interactive tutoring style to make sure that at the end of the session, students will feel comfortable applying what we learned to problems of all types, and confident in the knowledge they have gained.

I am a Junior at Lafayette College pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Data Science. I love studying Psychology, Philosophy, and Python! In my education experience, I have seen the importance of an enthusiastic and accommodating teacher to the success and enjoyment of students. As someone who hopes to become a professor of psychology, I strive to create an individually-curated, judgement-free, and engaging space to learn. In my non-profit, I have been educating 4 year olds to adults in environmental issues, social justice, and gardening so I have experience in getting a wide range of ages engaged in education! I used to dread learning, but now that I've been lucky enough to have great teachers, I know how important and fun learning can be! While I spend much of my free time continuing my education in Python and other subjects, I love the outdoors (especially hiking and gardening) as well as reading, and I've even picked up crocheting!

I am currently a graduate student at the University of Indianapolis studying Human Biology. My experience teaching began my junior year of high school when I started student teaching in the elementary music program. I have taught microbiology labs at Texas State as an instructional assistant and will be teaching freshman anatomy at the university of Indianapolis this year. These experiences have given me an appreciation and love of teaching. They have also taught me techniques for getting through to students who may not immediately grasp concepts. I think that the skills gained from these experiences make me a good tutor.

My name is Sam, and I love math and science! I've been to many places and done many things, but I've always enjoyed keeping up with what I learned in school, and sharing what I've learned with others. Some people find math and science to be especially daunting, with too many complex formulas and equations, and with little in common with what we see and do everyday. I'm here to tell you that doesn't have to be the case! Almost everything can be broken down into small pieces and understood in a simple, intuitive way. Even mathematics, which doesn't always seem to translate to the real world, can be used to describe things such as how fast cars move, what profit a company can make from selling items, and how populations of animals in the wild change over time. I'd be excited to help you see math and science in a different way, understand concepts, and do great on homework and tests!

I've worked with students teaching and tutoring in multiple capacities in the past and enjoy it immensely. I have tutored elementary school students with ADD in English and Math, high school students in Pre-Calculus, and college students on the brink of failure in Anatomy, Histology, Physiology, Biology, Calculus and many other subjects. While in medical school, I have tutored other students on the higher level subjects of medical school including Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, and Biostatistics.I like to let the student guide my teaching style. In my experience, each student needs individualized tutoring. Personally, I am a visual learner, but I know that not everyone learns that way, so I accommodate to each student's needs. My first student with ADD showed me the range of needs each student can have. Other students have different needs, and I like to push my students to their full potential.Communication is key to success in the tutor-student relationship, and I work hard to make sure that we both understand the commitment and the goals that we are working towards. Each session should have a goal that we go over in the beginning of the session and agree on and if time permits, at the end, go over that goal and see what we want to review for next session. While I try to push my students, I also am very lighthearted and like to have fun during the actual session. The more enjoyable the session, the more information will be retained and understood. I consider myself and the student to be a team trying to achieve a set goal, so I am always open to suggestions on my style or approach to tutoring.I hope that I get the chance to work with you and help you achieve your goals, whatever they may be, and have some fun along the way!

I'm a first-year med student at Pitt Med. I graduated from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts with a BS in Biology this past May. As much as I love medicine and the hard sciences, most of my tutoring experience is in general ACT prep, in addition to academic and creative writing, middle school math and reading, and high school and college math. Some of my favorite all-time classes were medical sociology in college and AP US Government and Politics in high school. Through Tufts, I taught English as a second language (3 semesters) and citizenship exam prep (1 semester) to Hispanic immigrants and refugees, which taught me a lot about how to gauge students' understanding, teach tough subjects, plan activities, provide flashcards and the best possible study materials, and make the most of the students' time. I love tutoring because I know how much a tutor's patience one-on-one can make the difference. I love sharing my study tips and test-taking strategies so they can study efficiently and make the best use of their time to get that desired result. I want students to feel heard and supported and help them find methods best suited to them. I want to help students enjoy learning and find more confidence in themselves through mastering tough subject matter.

Education is a passion for me. I've loved it ever since I was a child and love it now that I am able to share my knowledge with others. I received my BA in Biochemistry at Vassar College, my MSC in Anatomy & Physiology at the Atlantic Veterinary College of UPEI, and my PhD in Biomedical Sciences (Orthopedics) at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Subjects revolving around biology and chemistry are therefore my area of expertise and what I most enjoy tutoring.I don't have a singular approach to tutoring. It starts with getting to know the student and how they best assimilate information. Everyone is different. I always look to the individual's needs and work from there.Outside of academia I am interested in Fitness (CrossFit, Powerlifting), Aikido, Rock Climbing, Gaming, Movies, and Outdoor Activities/Nature.

I am a recent graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor's in Microbiology and Cell Science.I began tutoring Chemistry and Mathematics in High school and continued instructing students while in college as a Hebrew tutor. Additionally, I spent two semesters as an Undergraduate Teacher Assistant in a Microbiology instructional lab.Although I tutor many of the sciences, including Chemistry and Physics, my favorite topics involve Biology and Microbiology. I spent three years as an undergraduate working in a Microbiology/Biochemistry lab and feel a special affection for the field even as I pursue a career in Medicine. After graduating, I spent two months hiking the Appalachian Trail, further piquing my interest in physiology and environmental sciences. As far as my tutoring philosophy is concerned, I practice what I preach. My study methods have given me a measure of success both in the classroom and regarding standardized tests. I de-emphasize memorization in favor of conceptual understanding. We all love to see the questions we were presented with in class appear directly on the test, but what happens when a problem is presented in a new and unpredictable way? A fundamental understanding of the topic, a calm analytical thought-process, and some much-needed test skills allow us to tackle such adversity. Some of us are auditory learners and some are visual learners. Some of us love flash cards while others prefer a whiteboard or some trusty scratch-paper. Regardless of our study preferences, there are two things we can all benefit from: a structured framework of study and a perspective different from our own. I believe that a successful tutor provides both.
