I'm a recent graduate of Rutgers University-New Brunswick on the pre-med track. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences with a Minor in International and Global Studies.I understand the difficulties facing science/pre-health students. High school and college are hard enough, but having to excel in rigorous AP and upper-level college sciences can be stressful. I just graduated with highest distinction in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, so I understand how to best manage difficult coursework and stress. I also scored in the 91st percentile on the new MCAT, with my highest score in the MCAT Biology/Biochemistry section. I especially like teaching Biology and Biochemistry, with subareas like Genetics and Molecular Biology. With my knowledge and strategies in tackling this material, I feel I can help students no matter where their trouble lies. I've worked with young and special needs students learning Math and English at Kumon Math and Reading, as well as my local ESY program. I've also mentored high school students in my local health science magnet school on college readiness and study strategies.I like to relate difficult concepts to analogies relevant to the real world, rather than focus on dry text in a book. This way, students can not only memorize but truly understand and learn. To teach is also to learn, so I'll definitely be learning a few things alongside the student!

I am a Virginia native and familiar with the D.C. metro area. I am a graduate of the University of Chicago where I majored in Biology. My area of interest is Genetics, and I hope to eventually receive my PhD in Bioinformatics.I believe that learning is all about asking questions. The most important skill we can develop as students and people is to realize the things that we do not know and find ways to ask questions about them. Whatever these things are, they are most certainly different for everyone, and challenging them and tackling them head on is a sure fire way to grow intellectually. Being an effective questioner and an astute observer of the unknown is a life-long task, and through hard work and focus, I believe anyone can grow into a stronger thinker and a more effective student.I also think science is very fun, and the best way to improve in a subject that may be difficult is to find the parts of it which are enjoyable to you. My subjects have included biology, Algebra, Trigonometry, Chemistry I & II, Organic chemistry I & II, Physiology, and other pre-med college courses. At Kumon, I worked both one-on-one and in a group setting with children, to help them advance their math, reading, and writing skills.
