I am currently a fourth year medical student at the University of IL College of Medicine (graduating in May 2021), and I previously received my Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Genetics and Genomics from Northwestern University. Two things I am passionate about are helping others and mentoring/teaching -- tutoring allows me to do both of these simultaneously! I am currently an undergraduate at the University of Texas at Austin, focusing on a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. I have a background in both Mathematics and other Natural Science fields and am both willing and comfortable teaching either of these subjects. Furthermore, I have studied and taken the SAT and MCAT, and would be happy to help others who want to take these tests.My prior teaching experience includes mentoring in both group and one-on-one settings. While most of my teaching has been done with my students of similar age, I would be comfortable with younger students as well, having been an older sibling for most of my life. From personal experience from the point of view of both a teacher and a student, learning is not always a straightforward process. Teaching plans should be compatible with individual students, taking into account their goals, needs, and learning styles. For example, I personally like to incorporate secondary lines of reasoning. When learning words, I look at roots, when learning theorems, I study proofs, and when learning mechanisms, I examine comparable systems. In addition, I am a rather visual learner, and favor illustrations such as graphs, tables, and diagrams as learning tools.Besides working as a tutor, I enjoy watching and playing sports, especially football, basketball, and soccer. I enjoy cooking and would like to improve both the quality of food I produce and the repertoire of dishes I can make. I have interests in other subjects, such as geography, history, and architecture. Various other hobbies include watching TV shows, walking around, listening to music, and playing video games.

Math and science have always been my first loves. The magnificence of life and the body have captivated me from a very young age and the thrill of finding the hidden patterns in numbers and shapes has always been a favorite past time of mine. Though it may not seem related, the ability that I developed through math of being able to search for patterns has helped me tremendously in my endeavors to learn the sciences. Why? Because when it all boils down, life and science are nothing but a series of complex patterns that play out over and over again. Find the patterns and you've found the secrets to how life works!My love for finding the secrets of life lead me to pursue a bachelor's in science from UW-Milwaukee in biochemistry. After that I traveled all the way to Arizona to learn how to apply those secrets to the lives of patients in order to improve their health. Currently I am in my 3rd year of Naturopathic medical school and loving it! Hello! I'm Abigail and I'm a recent graduate from Oberlin College. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry, with a concentration in Pre-Med studies. Since high school, I have a passion for teaching a variety of subjects. During high school, I tutored at Kumon Math & Reading, teaching students math from the very basics to tackling Calculus and Linear Algebra. While a student at Oberlin, I was selected to TA for challenging introductory STEM courses, such as Organic Chemistry, Biology, and Chemistry. Aside from my interest in the sciences, I explored my passion for Russian Politics, Culture, and Literature. I traveled to Russia several times to work on journalism projects and was published in the Oberlin Review for my work in interviewing notable activists and researching grassroots movements in Russia. While in Russia, I taught English for children of migrant families, and in Istanbul, Turkey, I continued my ESL teaching for Syrian refugees. I especially love tutoring students topics in Biology and Chemistry, and I believe that with guidance and dedication, anyone can succeed in STEM and learn to appreciate the sciences.

I am a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University in NJ where I studied Marine Biology with a concentration in Biotechnology. I then enrolled in and completed a Ph.D. program at Cornell University in Toxicology with minors in Pharmacology and Immunology. My independent laboratory research conducted at Cornell focused on cellular changes that may lead to cancer. I then moved into the industry with multiple biotechnology companies and worked my way up from a bench scientist to a senior management role over the last 16+ years. I have worked to develop vaccines, gene therapies, and needed research reagents and tools. I bring to tutoring the experience and interactions I’ve had from being mentored and trained myself to the mentoring I’ve done to those I’ve supervised in their career development, including acting as an advisor to graduate students. I am passionate about science and enjoy tutoring all aspects of Biology along with Chemistry. I know the value of critical thinking, writing, and communication that is needed to be successful in school and beyond. Ihave also tutored for Kaplan and The Princeton Review focusing on MCAT prep (Biology and Organic Chemistry).
