I attended Hope College from 2006 to 2010 where I obtained a Bachelor's Degree with a double major in Biology and Mathematics. I then went on to study genetics at Iowa State University for a few semesters.I have tutored students both formally and informally throughout my education. In high school I tutored two students in various math subjects. At Hope I tutored a student in a freshman chemisty class. I have always had a knack for school and have enjoyed helping others understand the subjects I am passionate about. Throughout my education, even in elementary school, I would love helping my friends do better in their schooling, whether that be by just answering a few questions they had, some one-on-one time, or a group study session.I am a tutor for both Biology and Mathematics. My favorite subjects to tutor would have to be genetics and algebra. I have always found the effect that genetics has on both individuals and populations to be intriguing and my favorite classes in high, undergraduate, and graduate school were genetics related. I enjoy tutoring algebra because I find it to be an very natural way to think about problems. I believe anyone can understand it if they are able to think about the problems in the right manner. When tutoring someone who is struggling in a subject, I like to let the student work through the subject while I am there to guide them along. What usually happens in a classroom is the teacher presents information or demonstrates a way to solve a problem and then moves on. If a student does not absorb that information or understand that approach to solving the problem, they become lost. My job is to identify the specific disconnects and try to fill in the gaps in a way that makes sense to this specific student.Outside of work I am pretty low-key. I spend a lot of my free time watching TV shows or movies or playing video games. I also like to play sports when I get the chance, usually soccer or racquetball.

I graduated from the University of South Florida in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Biological and Biomedical Sciences with minors in Public Health and Computer Science. I then went on to get my Masters of Science in Medical Science, with a concentration in neuroscience research.Throughout high school and college, I actively tutored privately and for different tutoring companies. I have tutored students of all ages (from elementary to adult) in subjects such as reading and writing, mathematics, science, grammar, English comp and lit, and in playing the violin.I especially love tutoring math and science, as I have a very strong background in these areas.I have experience working with children of all ages, and with different disabilities (such as ADD, ADHD, autism, Asperger's syndrome, and physical disabilities affecting the child's fine and gross motor skills).I aspire to earn my Doctorates in Physical Therapy, where I then wish to continue on to specialize in neurological physical therapy working children. My hobbies include playing the violin (I have played for more than 15 years), writing children's books, and creating music accompanying the books. I also enjoy traveling, spending time with family and close friends, and basking in the sun at the beach.

Hi, my name is Ben and I am a medical student in my final year of training at NYU. I grew up just outside of Pittsburgh, PA, graduated from Penn State University in 2009 with a bachelors degree in Biology, and have been living in Manhattan for the past four years. I currently live in the East Village, a neighborhood packed with coffee shops, bars, live music, and just a generally awesome Hispanic/artsy culture.Back in college, I served as a teaching assistant and tutor for a Microbiology honors course for Biology majors, as well as an Introductory Biology/Life Science course for students fulfilling their General Science credits. My time spent as a TA included lecture style teaching and overseeing laboratory sessions for a 20-30 student class, as well as small group and one-on-one tutoring sessions.Next year, I will begin my residency training in Internal Medicine and Neurology, and I am hoping to stay in New York and work at either Cornell, Mount Sinai, or my home institution of NYU.I am experienced and very capable in helping students out with high school or college-level Biology, Chemistry, Physics, various Math courses, as well as standardized tests such as the SAT or the MCAT. I can also help with essay writing/editing, and anything else involved in applying for a science-related career or further education.I look forward to the chance of working with you!
