I am a recently graduated MD pursuing a career in medical research. I also have a biochemistry, mathematics and computer programming background. I am a graduate of Saint Xavier University with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. I have also obtained my endorsement in ESL, as I grew up in a bilingual household. Upon graduation in 2019, I have worked at two Montessori schools, both located in Chicago. Working closely with a range of age groups (preschool, Kindergarten, and some elementary grades) both in-person and remotely, have given me a unique perspective as to how children learn differently. My favorite subject to tutor is English since I believe forwarding the knowledge to second language learners is a gift. My approach to teaching is to gauge the learner's interests to make it as engaging and fun as possible. I have been working with students of all ages in academic settings for over 30 years. Most of my experience has been as a classroom teacher for middle school English/ language arts, but I have also taught marine biology, American history and problem solving. While I have only lived in two states, I have traveled to 45 out of 50. Hawaii, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Ohio are still on my list. Travel has always been important to me because I feel that it enhances my teaching. I have been a freelance tutor in various subject areas for over 10 years. I have tutored all ages from elementary through college-level. My specialty is English essay writing, proofreading, study skills, and general homework assistance. I also have many years of experience in tutoring SAT Math & Verbal, as well as mathematics elementary through college statistics. My philosophy on tutoring is that we are students and we have the opportunity to learn something new everyday!When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy long walks, reading mystery novels, watching psychological thrillers, writing poetry, painting and drawing. I recently graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology. This August I will continue my education at the University of Oklahoma Medical School in OKC. I hope to one day become an orthopedic surgeon and specialize in sports medicine. I have always loved any type of science course and enjoy helping others understand it and become successful.I have previous tutoring experience in basic science courses such as chemistry, organic chemistry, anatomy, and biochemistry.
