I'm an enthusiastic, lifelong student who enjoys sharing that enthusiasm - and knowledge - with others. My knowledge base comes partially from my undergraduate training in anthropology, but even moreso from my return to school to pursue a career as a physician assistant. I fell in love with biology, chemistry, anatomy, and physiology, and have been tutoring those subjects ever since. It has been a varied, rewarding experience, ranging in context from private sessions to group workshops to the hectic environment of a busy college learning center. Through it all, I've been able to hone my teaching craft, and also develop an appreciation for working with people to help them achieve their goals. Being able to work with people in the context of subjects I love is, therefore, a dream come true. I plan for teaching to remain an important part of my life for a long time to come.In the midst of tutoring and pursuing my professional dream of becoming a physician assistant, I enjoy reading, astronomy, swing dancing, fitness, and far too many other hobbies to list. I believe it is crucial to always be ready to learn and to experience. The examined life is filled with wonder.

I have a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Arizona. I've been on academic probation and truly understand what it's like to struggle with material. That struggle helps me to be a better teacher. I start medical school this fall, which goes to show that it does not matter if you have a difficult start. What does matter is how you choose to respond to challenges and what you do to overcome them.

I am interested in bettering your educational experience in the Life Sciences, Chemistry, and Math! If you or your child is struggling with math or science courses or, perhaps, is preparing for a standardized test that requires application knowledge in these areas then I may be the guy for you! I am also interested in tutoring individuals who are working towards acceptance into a professional school that might have been out of school for a while.I have experience in private tutoring to elementary/middle school through college level students in math and the sciences and have helped many achieve goals that seemed unattainable. I have done this by establishing what areas of the subject are most troubling to students and focusing on them by using a variety of different sources. I have many textbooks and class notes, manuals, etc. that the students can use to have multiple viewpoints on the same subject.I also believe that a person learns best when they are able to recap and teach the subject to another individual. Therefore, I provide not only the details in a subject, but also a bigger picture motif that enables the student to make real-life connections with what they are learning and gives them enough understanding to be able to "teach" the topic. As someone who recently graduated Arizona State University with a B.S. in Microbiology, I understand the hardships that many students must face in large classroom learning environments and so I can relate to younger or more mature adult students. I have much experience in working in a lab setting where application and science work in tandem so I realize the necessity in flexibility and the importance in explaining the exceptions to the rules that we learn in science. My studies have led me to pursue a career in dentistry and I will be beginning dental school at UCLA in the fall so I am also an ideal candidate for more specialized test prep. such as for the DAT, OAT, PCAT, and MCAT. I am also available for ACT test prep. and I am flexible and open to new endeavors and experiences!

I graduated from UW-Madison in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in microbiology and genetics. Currently, I am preparing for veterinary school where I hope to study wildlife pathology. I am also working in a laboratory and have plenty of hands-on experience in the biological sciences that I can use to make the living world around us more understandable and exciting to others. Additionally, I have helped teach a microbiology lab course at UW-Madison. Having the opportunity to teach others about the things I have a passion for fills me with so much excitement. I offer tutoring both in person and online in math, the biological sciences, and SAT/ACT test prep. I can also assist students who need help learning to write scientific papers and lab reports for class.

I've been a student of the world for almost three decades and I feel like I've just scratched the surface of what's to be learned about it. I'm excited to connect with new people and share the knowledge I know while gaining new perspectives about what has been in front of me this whole time.

At Norfolk State University, I began tutoring entry level science courses as a Dozoretz National Institute of Mathematics and Applied Sciences scholar and enjoyed participating in the Minority Association of Pre-Health Students and the Caribbean Student Association. I also tutored undergraduate level courses to ranging from English to Calculus in our Student Support Services. Off campus, I worked with middle school and high school adolescents in the Advancement Via Individual Determination program.I enjoy helping students cultivate the desire to learn and understand the material. My primary goal is to assist in the the question development process and build students' confidence in themselves. My method of coaching students' to ask the "right" questions, he or she is not overwhelmed by the material or feel inadequate due to their disconnect between topcs in a particular subject matter.

I have had many years in schooling, started with an undergraduate training in Chemistry, followed by a Masters degree in Organic Chemistry, a Medical Doctorate (MD) degree, and a Doctoral degree (PhD) in Biophysics at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Currently, I am a clinical research fellow at MGH. During this long journey, I have gained a lot of knowledge and accomplishments which put me in a place where I am ready to commit myself to help you prepare for your exams. Teaching is my way of paying back to my own great teachers. Hopefully one day you will continue this cycle.I have had tutored and taught many students, just like you. Some of them are now graduate students and even postdoctoral fellows. I am proud of them and this is the feeling that inspires me for teaching. My teaching strategy is based on a simple concept: Understand not memorize. This may seem obvious but unfortunately sometimes the education system is not based on this key idea. I am here to help you implement this strategy, no matter what area we are going to study together. My favorite subjects to teach are: Chemistry, Math and Biology. My favorite exams to teach include: SAT Math, GRE Quantitative, GRE Chemistry, and the MCAT. In general, any exam related to any of my favorite 3 subjects.I am offering you the knowledge I gained during 4 years of BS in Chemistry two years of MS in Organic Chemistry, four years of MD and six years of PhD in Biophysics, as well as the experience I have from several years of tutoring/teaching and lifelong passion for teaching. With my whole heart I would love to see you achieve much more.Successful teachers are those whose students are even more successful.
