I am currently working on publishing my honors senior thesis on Antarctic ice sheet dynamics in a scientific journal. Outside of academia, I enjoy performing as an actor on the stage and screen. I am passionate about carrying artistic endeavors alongside academic pursuits. I tutor a wide array of academic subjects, and I am most excited about tutoring students in Earth Science, writing and reading skills, Algebra 2, Calculus at all levels, and Physics. I currently work as a supervisor for an AmeriCorps program that provides opportunities for young adults to gain skills working in the field of conservation while also receiving training for personal and professional development. I aspire to become a ranger with the National Park Service and a freelance writer.

I am a current PhD candidate in experimental geophysics at MIT. I have successfully tutored dozens of students for the GRE; these students report not only higher scores but deeper understanding of the material, even in areas they have struggled with for years. Many of my students have not taken relevant quantitative courses for years and have forgotten much of their fundamental math skills, but after working with me for a short time, they are able to achieve great GRE quantitative scores. Students also enjoy my approach to the verbal section, where we work on decoding the questions and narrowing answer choices based on the type of question. I focus on a strong understanding of the concepts being tested as well as on test-taking skills. After working together, all of my students feel more comfortable entering the exam and sure of their own abilities, and nearly all of my students end up meeting or exceeding their original score goals.

I'm an undergraduate student at Boston University studying Neuroscience and Human Physiology in the Kilachand Honors College. I am a member of the BU D1 dance team and global medical brigades. I recently returned from a trip to Honduras where my brigade was able to provide healthcare to a rural community in central Honduras.

I am a former middle school science teacher and science curriculum chair in Philadelphia. I recently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Master's degree in Education. In undergraduate, I graduated with honors in history and Russian language studies. I am also a Teach For America corps member alumnus. Right now I am the Learning and Development Coordinator for Impark USA. I enjoy teaching and love to work with others to overcome their academic challenges.

I am a big science buff, especially astronomy and evolutionary biology. I was also a competitive wrestler for 10 years and a competitive runner for five. I have 3 kids of my own and I love to teach.

I'm hoping to help my students get as excited about learning as I always have been! My most recent teaching experience has been with a local marine biology summer camp, where I do my best to get the kids stoked about biology, ecology, environmental science, and conservation. While I feel most passionate about marine biology, I am also qualified to tutor a variety of different subjects. I have taken the SAT 11 different times, and feel very confident teaching standardized test subjects! For me, tutoring is about breaking down difficult subjects into bite-sized pieces for my students to understand. That's a bit of a mouthful, but basically it means I study the way living things interact with the chemistry of the ocean, and how that interaction gets recorded in mud and rock. Because of my experience with many different disciplines, I am able to teach a wide variety of subjects and have experience working with students of all ages from middle school to middle aged. My greatest skill as a tutor is the ability to adapt challenging material to the viewpoint of my students. I am a recent graduate of Bowdoin College with a BA in Biology, English, and Theater. I have been tutoring pretty steadily in one form or another since middle school and am quite comfortable tackling diverse subjects in both the arts and sciences. As a native Spanish speaker, reader, and writer I have years of experience tutoring students at all proficiency levels in the language. My bilingual background has also given me the opportunity to work with native Spanish speakers in other academic subjects. I bring a compassionate and collaborative approach to teaching. I strongly believe that a tutor must treat his or her student as a teammate and not as someone who merely needs instruction.
