I am a graduate of Albright College where I received my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a co-concentration in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. While at Albright, I was deeply involved with Academic Learning Center's tutoring program. I accumulated over 500 hours tutoring my peers in their college Math courses. I tutored mainly Calculus, but I also had the opportunity to train and mentor other new tutors. I helped them learn the importance of study skills, learning styles, and communication so they could more effectively help the students they tutored. Math has always been my favorite subject to tutor because I love helping students build their foundation in whatever course they are taking to help them be successful. I have always been fascinated by the way different topics in Math are intertwined. In my spare time, I love to do all types of crafts, especially knitting. I also enjoy baking decorative cakes and cupcakes and reading.

I am an incoming sophomore transfer at Northwestern University, where I plan to study political science and legal studies. I graduated high school in 2020 and then took a gap year, during which time I completed several internships but truly found my passion as an intern at my local legal aid organization. After college, I plan to pursue a law degree and eventually become a lawyer or judge.I had multiple opportunities during high school to work with younger students, from working as a summer cello teacher to volunteering as an assistant kids' tennis coach to mentoring beginning musicians in my youth orchestra program. I greatly enjoyed each of those roles, as I found the experience of passing on my skills and, hopefully, my passions to those younger than me to be extremely rewarding. As a tutor, I look forward to helping students of all ages in a variety of subjects and test prep areas so that they can succeed in their courses and exams while developing a passion for learning.

I use Chinese every day to communicate with my Taiwanese girlfriend, and I love helping others gain mastery in a language with an unjust reputation for difficulty. I like the tension between "playing by the rules" and "thinking outside the box" that comes with language use. I like the small joys of grammar and syntax, as well as the bigger joys of personal connections and deeper, richer life experiences that come with languages. I love teaching because I get to help other people experience for themselves these same joys. For me, language is fun, not frustrating, and it's this excitement along with a strong grasp of fundamentals, that I love to share with students.

I am a people person, and I enjoy helping and being of assistance. I have a lot of patience, and am very creative. I find that people of all ages struggle with some sort of learning curve. Finding what works for each person individually is how to teach. Everyone learns differently. Some people are great listeners and do great with dictation, while some need to be hands on, and some people also just are visual learners.
