Currently, I work at the University of Michigan Health System - Ann Arbor as a Management Engineer Consultant.Teaching has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. As an avid believer in the importance of education, I strive to apply this in all aspects of my life. During high school, I participated in a program called the READ Alliance where I taught struggling elementary school students how to read. While in college, I provided homework assistance to Turkish refugee students. My support in education is one reason why I currently aspire to be an Occupational Therapist. The goal of an Occupational Therapist is not just to treat the client but to educate them on the importance of safety and the reasoning behind every step. I enjoy motivating and observing the progress of individuals as they strive toward their goal. I am also interested in areas outside of academics. In my spare time, I enjoy various things ranging from playing sports to reading. However, I particularly love finding the hidden treasures of NYC, such as, “hole in the wall” restaurants and undiscovered breathtaking areas.

I believe that progressive education is the ideal facilitator for this process of personal growth, and democratic participation of students in the classroom.I personally have a passion for learning and part of my role as an educator is to project that to my students, encouraging them to seek the same for themselves. I expect students to be accountable for their own efforts both in and outside of the classroom. Since students come from all sorts of backgrounds, cultures and upbringings, lessons and classroom exercises should be presented in a variety of different ways to meet their different learning styles. In the modern age where technology is constantly changing, educators like myself can use devices such as smartboards, projectors and other items, to better enhance the learning atmosphere inside the classroom. Studying both Spanish when I was an Undergraduate, and now Liberal Arts Studies as a Graduate student, allows me to better present a hands on and visual learning environment inside the classroom so that students can make the most of their academic experience.As an educator, my goal is to help students develop a strong interest for learning that they can carry with them through the rest of their educational careers. I believe finding the right balance of instruction in the classroom is attainable by a combination of organized planning, hands on activities and strong motivation to be a part of the learning process.
