Teaching has been my passion since my early undergraduate years, and I love working closely with individual students on their total development as a student. It's one of the greatest joys in my life. My favorite roles have always been academic advising that combines specific intellectual topics with the broader questions of college admissions, and collegiate development across a range of skill-sets. This was my most recent position at Harvard University, where I served both as a mentor to my advisees on individual papers and tests, and also on how to take their development into their own hands and rise to their full potential. So, students and parents, I hope you will look to me for my many years of experience teaching and advising, for help with my strongest specific topic areas - Writing, English, Philosophy, and the Social Sciences - but also as someone who strives to empower a student globally, and someone who always gives every one of my students the greatest specific attention to their needs as possible across the full range of high school and collegiate demands.

My teaching career spans more than 20 years. I have taught middle school, high school, junior college and adults.I love science! I grew up on a small farm. Learning about animals and plants was a daily experience; one that I continue today.I believe learning is much about experience so I try my best to ensure my students "do" as much as possible.

I earned my bachelor's degree in middle childhood education from The Ohio State University and my master's degree in middle childhood education from Mount Vernon Nazarene University.I've been working as a middle school math teacher for the past eleven years. I've taught 5th, 6th, and 8th grade math. In this time, I have worked with students on IEPs, 504s, gifted math students, and students with high cognitive abilities.I enjoy working with students and I have a knack for helping students understand and apply math concepts.

I enjoy working one on one with students and thrive on helping others succeed. I know the satisfaction obtained through working for a good cause. I was drawn to this tutoring service to utilize my knowledge in Chemistry and Math to teach others. I am a graduate of the University of Houston. I received my Master of Arts in Communications with a minor in public relations. Since graduation, I have taught extensively with a childcare facility, tutoring young children, explaining complex subjects and making sure there is understanding. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Literature, and History. In my experience, helping young minds properly, understanding their syllabus, gives me ultimate fulfillment and we have the most fun while at it. I strongly believe in education, and I do my best to ensure that my students get the best. In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling and sightseeing with my twin sister.

Unwilling to pick between the humanities and the sciences, I studied both Anthropology and Sustainable Development at Columbia University. I have experience tutoring most subjects, but my strengths are test prep, studying and time management skills, and reading, writing, and critical thinking skills at any level. I love helping students find the way that works best for them to approach problem solving and learning. I am very interested in education and have experience working with both children and young adults in New York public schools as well as outdoor summer schools. I speak both French and Arabic and am learning Spanish, and in my free time I love to cook, read, and travel!

My interest in tutoring stems from my love of learning and passion in sharing the learning process with others. I have roughly two years of experience tutoring one-on-one and at learning centers in both high school and college. After graduating from Stanford University, I worked with students ranging in age from Kindergarten to Twelfth Grade, from basic reading to Calculus BC. Irrespective of age, the focus remains the same: to help students enjoy the work so much, the barely know they're working! I love seeing students find excitement and understanding in a subject that they had previously written off as boring and/or impossible.When not tutoring, I work as a professional actor and theatre teacher in the Chicago Area. I also cook, jog, and stare wistfully at Lake Michigan, pretending to still live in California. I look forward to working with you and bringing out the best parts of the learning experience.
