I currently am going into my sophomore year of college as a math major for secondary education! I have tutored previously and it brightens my mood when I am able to help students improve their goals within education. Beyond math, I have strength in writing essays and papers, including creating a thesis. I am a recent medical school graduate from St. Georges University School of Medicine. My Alma mater is Barry University from which I received a Bachelors of Science with a major in Biology. I first began tutoring when I was in college and have tutored a wide array of topics including AP Spanish, High School Physics, Biology, and Chemistry. My teaching style is a more inclusive approach so that my students are exposed to auditory, visual and tactile learning as appropriate for the subject. I received a Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology Major (B.S.) and History Minor from Emory University.Throughout my undergraduate years, I worked as a Biology teaching assistant at Emory (leading review sessions in the advanced and introductory courses). Today, I mainly tutor students in Biology-related courses, including Human Physiology and Neuroscience.As a medical student at New York Medical College, I hope to offer students interested in a career in medicine additional breadth and specialized mentoring. Moreover, I also enjoy writing and would be more than happy to assist with college essays, especially scientific writing.In my free time, I enjoy volunteering as an EMT at a local ambulance corps, reading, and cooking.

My favorite classes were ones I designed for the Case Western Reserve University SAGES program, specifically courses on "Lies and Deceit" and "Spies." I have assisted students with test prep work for both the ACT and the SAT, and I have worked for several years in Writing Centers. I am especially adept at helping students overcome writing anxiety, and I have numerous strategies for assisting with reading issues.

I grew up in the Saratoga, NY area and transferred to Union College from the University of Rochester after circumstances required me to take a year off from school and be closer to home. I received an almost full academic scholarship to attend the University of Rochester and played baseball while I was there. While at Union, I co-founded Sawatch Holdings, developed a program called "Reading with Tugg" with the Crossroads Center for Children Administration, and worked on average 30 hours per week between my various positions. I am also actively involved in volunteering at Albany Medical Center (primarily with the therapy dog program, in which I visit patients with my buddy, Tugg, who is a 3-year-old yellow labrador retriever) and enjoy playing golf, going hiking, and reading works on philosophy, economics, and the financial markets.I majored in economics and biology and minored in philosophy alongside taking the pre-medical course requirements. I scored in the 94th percentile on the MCAT and I finished with a 3.9 GPA. My undergraduate thesis investigated my interest in health economics and was titled, "Suicidal Behaviors in Adolescence and Critical Outcomes in Adulthood". I am currently planning to spend the next two academic years conducting clinical translational research at the NIH and I will apply to dual degree MD-MBA programs next application cycle, with the intention of matriculating into medical school in the fall of 2019.I took the MCAT once after approximately 1 month of studying. Despite studying for much less time than the average pre-med student, I was able to score a 515 (130/128/129/129) because I have a strong grasp on the concepts and strategies required to do well. In my experience, it's not superior knowledge but critical thinking skills and the implementation of certain strategies that distinguish the top scorers. I look forward to helping you understand the content covered on the MCAT, as well as working with you to develop the critical thinking skills and strategies needed to score in the top percentiles!

I recently graduated from Princeton University with an AB in Religion, and I am currently in the process of applying to Law School. I have tutored middle school and high school students in subjects ranging from 5th grade reading to geometry to the SAT. While I am happy and able to tutor a number of subjects, I am most passionate about Test Prep because these scores are very important to students, and I enjoy helping them to conquer the test and succeed. My teaching philosophy can be described as a coaching style in which, like athletics, I believe learning the subject matter, good techniques, and constant practice are the best ways to achieving better scores.I love staying active in lots of different ways whether it be playing sports, yoga, or even tough mudders. I like reading about and experiencing Art and Architecture as well as Fashion. I also enjoy experiencing other cultures through food and travel.

I am a young senior citizen who has been in the IT field for many years and enjoy using tools like Excel which analyze and present data in a type of graph or dashboard form. Employers like their data to be visual. Years ago I taught myself Access and have done database queries as well as macro programming. My college major was Business with a concentration in Decision Sciences. I like working with adults and young people of all ages and helping to equip them with Excel knowledge they can use in the workplace or at home.

The students I teach have had a varied experience with the writing process: some have had very positive experiences over the years and come to me with strong skills; others have not met with much success in the past as far as their writing goes, so they exhibit a lack of confidence. No matter where on that scale they may be when they arrive in my session, my goal for all of them is to help them become better writers and communicators than they were when they first came to me. I believe that all students are capable of producing well-organized, clear, insightful writing--it is just a matter of recognizing and honing each student's particular strengths.
