Having received my BA in English from Creighton University in Omaha and my master's in Creative Writing from Kingston University in London, England, I am back home in Omaha looking to expand my experience in tutoring. During the two and a half years that I was studying in the UK I also worked as a tutor. I did private, in-home tutoring as well as facilitating groups and classrooms. My primary subjects are English, ESL, Writing and Reading but I also work well with primary students in math. I have previous university coursework in Ancient Studies, so I am also very happy to assist with social studies and basic Latin.I am focused on the importance of education at every level and dedicated, specifically, to helping and motivating others to improve and perfect their fluency and mastery of the English language. Each student has their own goals with tutoring and it is my objective to determine my students' learning styles and to adjust my teaching methods accordingly in order to create the best environment for supplemental instruction. Learning is important and it should be fun, especially for children. Therefore, I incorporate puzzles and games into our sessions.I chose to study in the UK because I enjoy traveling and I love the rich history in Europe and particularly in England. I like to read and explore museums, and I really like to write. I have written several short stories and am in the process of revising a novella that I wrote for my master's dissertation. I have recently joined a writer's group and am looking forward to, one day, having some of my work published.

Hello my name is Lindsay I am 26 and a new mom. I have my bachelors degree in K-12 Special Education and working on my master in moderate to severe special education. Before becoming a teacher I volunteered and worked as a para in multiple types of special education and general education settings. I have worked as a resource para (push into the classroom and pull out) as well as elementary Severe Special Needs Level 3 and Middle School Alternate Curriculum Program. I have worked with Down syndrome, severe emotional disorder but specialize and love working with kids with ADHD and Autism.My goal is to find growth even in the littlest ways. I believe that every kid can be successful you just have to find what works for them. You also need to find what may never work for them and move on. I love helping kids that need an extra push and helping them succeed.

I have been tutoring all levels of Spanish for over 10 years. I love working with students on an individual basis to help them succeed in their class. I understand that foreign languages don't come easy for everyone. I actually almost failed my first year of Spanish in high school. However, with hard work and persistence, I ended up excelling in my classes and now, more than 15 years later, I am a Spanish translator and interpreter. I know what worked for me when I was struggling, so I like to incorporate those same strategies with other students. I like to use humor and word associations to help students remember things. I get along with any type of personality and have a passion for working with special needs students as well. I have worked with students from age 8 to 68! It is never too early or too late to start learning Spanish. I hope that my passion for the Spanish language will spill over into the lives of my students.

I am a senior at UNL double majoring in math and computer science graduating May of 2020. I am interning as a data scientist and plan to pursue a career in this field.

I am a 2016 graduate from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and received my Bachelor of Science in Education and Human Sciences. My degree includes K-6 endorsements in Elementary Education and Special Education. I have taught elementary school for 5 years and love working with students to find their passion and to help them overcome academic challenges, as I truly believe learners can accomplish anything they set their mind to! I am extremely passionate about reading, but I also love teaching writing, math, and unit studies. My teaching style focuses on hands-on engagement and meaningful discussion to learn the material. I am also a firm believer in incorporating real-life applications while teaching so students can see how they will actually use the knowledge in their future.

I really enjoy working with people to overcome personal barriers to understanding math! Once I was shown that numbers were not a tool of oppression but rather a means of expression, I became free to enjoy math as a challenging game. I look forward to helping others share in that same freedom.

I am an MBA graduate from the University of Central Missouri. While completing my MBA, I worked as a graduate assistant in the Management department. I currently work in the financial services industry, but would like to eventually move into higher education administration. My favorite part of my job is helping other employees learn and improve their skills. I firmly believe that a tutor should adjust their teaching style based on a student's needs. I currently tutor students in accounting, business statistics, general business, and ACT Reading and Math prep. In my free time, I enjoy competitive running, reading, watching Netflix, and spending time with my fiance and dog Gabby. I am also currently learning Spanish using Duolingo.

While earning my master's I worked as a graduate assistant by teaching composition courses.I had the opportunity to create and deliver my own curriculum. That experience further encouraged my passion for teaching English. I enjoyed helping the students learn how to write papers and develop skills that they would use for the rest of their college careers.I also have experience tutoring elementary students. I often created games and contests to help them complete homework. These activities allowed for a lot of interaction and was fun for both parties.I believe in student centered education and putting the needs of my students first. This means I am willing to try different teaching methods when it benefits the student. The English world is so exciting and I have a passion for helping students find their place in it because with the right guidance, anyone can be a good writer.

I believe strongly in the importance of a good education, and in the ability of students to achieve to the utmost of their potential which is often much greater than they think they can achieve! Through learning science, mathematics, foreign languages, technology, literature, history, and the arts, a person can broaden his or her horizons to discover new worlds they've never imagined. My desire is to help people take those steps of discovery and to help create lifelong learners.

I just finished my B.S. degree in biomedical engineering. I became interested in biomed engineering because I took an electronics course. I fell in love with electronics and served as a teaching assistant for the class. I now work at a Makerspace teaching faculty, students, and staff how to use all kinds of equipment. I help younger kids with Science Olympiad, and my younger siblings with math and essay writing. My goal as a tutor is to help students understand the problem first, then work on finding a solution.I love tinkering with electronics, doing any hands-on crafts, piano, and being outdoors.
