The student and I worked on ratios and proportions today. She actually taught me her way of doing it (how she was taught in class) and therefore I used her method, which was somewhat simpler, to help her. We worked on word problems. She was able to grasp the concept really quickly and had no trouble doing the problems on her own with a little assistance.

I plan on bringing in more worksheets on distribution (which he said he learned last year but never understood), slope, and independent and dependent variables.

I covered normal distributions, how to graph and find the proportions using the table, calculating z- scores and standard deviations, and quantitative vs qualitative variables. The student had some struggles with the z-scores in the beginning but was able to quickly grasp the concepts. Her attitude toward the material was fine. I included the strategy of finding greater than a z-score is the same thing as finding less than the negative z-score. Also I showed her the shading of a normal distribution. She was able to understand how to solve the problems after a little bit of explanation from me.
