My tutoring style is structured on the principle that not every person learns the same way. It's not always how you were taught the material, but how it was received. If it was never received and learned by the student, they were never taught.I teach Sciences (chemistry, biology), and Math and have an Arizona Department of Education Substitute Teaching Certificate. I have my Master's in Forest Resources but I tell everyone it's in Wood Chemistry. I enjoy the challenge of solving problems and I have used that as my basis for careers I have chosen. Here is a little of my Philosophy of Teaching.....Learning is, of course, the main purpose of education. I feel that the concept of learning should be molded around three steps. First, learn and understand the material presented. Second, independent thought is essential to the development of every student. Being able to form unique independent ideas to solve problems is the next step in the formal learning process. Finally, the use of learned concepts in new situations is essential for the student to prove understanding. By using understood information, students should be able to apply what they have learned to new situations presented to them by the teacher and in the future, by life. Transfer of this sort is what really determines what has been absorbed and will stick with the student for a lifetime.Learning can be fun. Select me as your tutor and you will find out how and why.

People are my passion and learning is my favorite pastime. The combination of the two lead me to my field of studyconvergence journalism with an emphasis in humanitarian journalism.I earned my degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism in 2014. Upon graduating, I've applied my skills to different jobs in varying industries. These roles include reporting, marketing, research, technology and teaching. My goal when working with students is to help them understand the "why" behind what they are learning. I want to help them see how the information they're learning can be applied to life outside of the classroom.Words are my passion. Therefore, it brings me joy to help students uncover their own potential and ability to clearly communicate.

My teaching philosophy can be best summarized as assisting the student to think for him or herself and helping them gain confidence in their academic abilities I focus on a holistic approach to problem solving and academics, and pay special attention to personalize my services to the individual student's needs and personality. I have been a private tutor for over 6 years. My first assignments were requests from classmates to assist them in Pre-AP Chemistry and Mathematics. I attended Texas State Honors Math Camp to advance my mathematical skills where I learned to collaborate and gained exposure to different ways of explaining and conceptualizing mathematical problems. I have also worked with teenagers as a residential camp counselor and as well as teaching a New York City Ballet dancer for an accelerated GED high school certification program. My vast international travel and academic background has enabled me to effectively adapt and strategize for a variety of courses and tests. I also assist students with college admissions counseling and preparation, as well as essay reading and writing assistance. I look forward to working with you to help you achieve your goals!

I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2018 with dual degrees in English and Chemistry. While I tutor a breadth of humanities subjects, I focus primarily on English literature, writing/essay composition, and the reading and language sections of the SAT. Tutoring essay composition is a special pleasure of mine. While grammar conventions and structural considerations are important elements of writing, I strive to help students find their unique written voice. If you're looking for a tutor who makes a point of being patient and understanding students with extenuating circumstances, we might be a good fit! In my free time, I love to cook and tinker with audio synthesis software. I'm currently preparing my applications for graduate programs in comparative literature for the 2021-2022 academic year.

I was what is referred to as a nontraditional student. I struggled in high school due to undiagnosed ADD. Upon receiving a diagnosis later at age 25 I returned to school. I received a BSCh and MS in Analytical Chemistry from The University of Memphis, a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from Vanderbilt University, and served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Indiana University before moving to the Denver area in 2011.I currently homeschool my 13 year-old son, and have tutored throughout my graduate academic career. I have taught undergraduate chemistry labs at levels from introductory courses for non-science backgrounds through advanced mixed graduate/undergraduate classes for chemistry majors. I understand that different people learn in different ways, and that the best teachers adapt their methods to the needs of their students. In addition to my passion for science, I have a love for music. Both of my children belong to the Denver Young Artist Orchestra and have performed musical theater with the Phamaly theater group.
