Physical Chemistry Tutoring review by Joe in Streamwood, IL
We continued to discuss work and forces. We discussed decomposing vectors into x and y-components. The session focused on going over answers to a test they had taken. The student had a positive attitude, knew her equations, and was good at manipulating them.

Physical Chemistry Tutoring review by Andrew in Streamwood, IL
In today's session, the student and I went over some basic 1-dimensional and 2-dimensional kinematics, focusing particularly on projectile motion. He showed me some specific problems that he had been struggling with, and we worked through them together. The student is obviously working hard to achieve the level of understanding he desires of his physics coursework, and I am confident that with regular tutoring sessions we can make sure he gets the grade he wants!

Physical Chemistry Tutoring review by Janghoon in Streamwood, IL
We went over the topic of heat, and even previewed the concept of heat of vaporization and heat of fusion. She was quick and enthusiastic to get the concepts. I left her some problems to practice new concepts so that she can ace it when she comes around to it in class.

He and I worked on the visual system, reviewing his readings and taking some online quizzes. We introduced general brain anatomy and reviewed the lobes and sections of the brainstem and limbic system, as well as their functions. I asked that he review these brain areas each day until I see him next.

Physical Chemistry Tutoring review by Keith in Streamwood, IL
He had a nutritional lab, and he needed to know how to create a calibration curve/line and use the calibration curve to calculate the percent of sugar in beverages for which he measured the densities. We went step-by-step through the process, and I showed him how to convert the densities on the graph to a percent concentration of sugar. I also pointed out some things to look out for, such as double checking to make sure that the densities that he calculated are correct. I also reminded him that he needed the label amounts to calculate the percent error. He seemed to understand after I explained it. No additional practice or scores. It was just for a lab.

Physical Chemistry Tutoring review by Eliza in Streamwood, IL
He had had a test today, so we went over the concepts he remembered having trouble with and looked at them from a conceptual standpoint rather than just reviewing the formulas you can use for each situation. We talked about what happens in circuits from the point of view of the electrons and how to use that to remember seemingly arbitrary rules about how resistors add or whether current or voltage stays constant across parallel or series circuits. This is a little outside of the scope of the class, but he has a good handle on the basic concepts and only had trouble when he had to solve unfamiliar problems, which is where good conceptual knowledge helps the most. He is a quick learner, and, with a bit of guidance, he was able to apply his knowledge and intuition about mechanics to the unfamiliar world of electrodynamics very well.
