The student got an A on her final in December and ended up with a B for the semester. This is huge progress! I'm so proud of how hard she's worked! We had a lot of ground to cover tonight. We went through the notes from class, and also went over some current material. We went over triangle congruence theorems, and isosceles triangle congruence theorems. We focused mainly on proofs. She can follow someone else's reasoning very well, so we'll continue to work on proofs. We ended with proof by contradiction. It may be on her test tomorrow but they hadn't gotten to it in class.

The student and I spent a lot of time going through geometry theorems and proofs. She seemed to grasp everything every well, and the study materials that she made for herself were very strong...I think she'll do really well on her final today. We spent the last 20 minutes reviewing macromolecules in biology for her exam next week. I think that with more practice, she'll have biology down cold by the time she takes her test. As I've tried to tell her, the key to succeeding in biology is pure repetition.

The student and I reviewed inscribed angles in circles. We went over the different theorems and did practice problems to review. One problem in particular was a longer multistep problem that used a variety of different theorems to solve. The student did a great job of applying the material and working out the required steps to solve. We also did a brief review of radicals and started on to the next geometry section on trigonometry. The student already knew sine, cosine, and tangent, so we reviewed the definitions and did some initial problems. She will continue to review this section for next week. Great work!

During the session we covered dilation, and the composition of transformation. These are a few things that the student was struggling with. After reviewing it, the student seemed to understand the concept better. She then told me she would like to go over the Sine, Cosine, and Tangent rules. We looked over her worksheets and practice sheets to look at some problems. I helped her with remembering the rules and how to decide what function to use when approaching certain problems. She seemed to quickly grasp the concept quickly. I left her with a formula sheet that she can look over and use for her upcoming test.
