Over the last six years, I have had tremendous success working with students from ages 8 - 28 from schools all over New Jersey and throughout New York City. The basic premise of my tutoring is that I work individually with each student to pinpoint their exact areas of need. I believe that the time that a student spends with their tutor is precious and needs to be utilized most efficiently if the student is going to succeed. After reviewing the student's previous work and/or test scores, together, we set up a curriculum that works to strengthen his or her weaknesses whether that be reading comprehension, grammar skills, algebra, test taking tips, time management, etc. During our sessions together, we will review the problems that I have provided for homework, and I will instruct the student on better and faster ways to solve the correct problems and demonstrate ways to approach the problems that they did not know how to solve.

Additionally, I always find that my students have the greatest level of success as I foster great tutor/student relationships. I set high expectations for my personal academic achievements and expect the same from my students. I often serve as a role model for my students. My experiences as a National AP Scholar, graduate of Columbia University with a Bachelors in Neuroscience, and my matriculation into a top 20 MD program at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai make me a prolific tutor.

I hope that I can help you achieve all of your academic dreams!

Q & A

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

During our first session, I would provide the student with a baseline assignment so we can determine his or her strengths and weaknesses. Additionally, I would discuss with the student what they are hoping to gain from our sessions and how they best learn.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I can provide the proper structure and organization to a student's study skills so that the student feels confident doing high quality work on his or her own.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I would continually encourage the student to put their best effort towards all academic pursuits. The old adage "practice makes perfect" is never more true than in academic tutoring.
