Management Tutoring FAQ
While many people may assume that certain individuals innately possess leadership skills, becoming an excellent manager requires instruction, practice, and guidance. Managers are expected to fulfill a number of roles in a business setting. First and foremost, it is the manager's job to cultivate group dynamics to make sure that his or her business runs efficiently and effectively while maintaining excellent morale amongst its workers. This requires superb communication skills and an understanding of the complexities of group power dynamics at the individual, group, and organizational level.
Managers also help to guide a business development by making key strategic decisions regarding pricing, advertising, and other financially significant decisions. They address complex business problems by developing business plans that incorporate people, products, resources, and technologies, and make sure all of these facets of a business work in tandem toward a set goal or goals.
As you can see, management involves much more than one might initially assume, and good managers need to develop their skills in all of these areas in order to excel in a business environment at any scale. If you are a business professional wanting to bolster your management skills or a business student wishing to augment your management courses, look no further than Varsity Tutors. We can help connect you with excellent one-on-one management tutors all across the country that can address your specific needs and help you gain the skills and knowledge you need to succeed in a managerial setting.
Management tutoring is provided by many expert tutors. Many tutors have succeeded in some of the top management programs in the country, and they have the managerial knowledge and skills as well as the teaching acumen to help you work toward your goals in mastering management. We can help you connect with the particular management tutor in your area whose skill set best equips them to help you with your particular concerns, and your tutor can develop a customized curriculum addressing only the aspects of management that you need to focus on.
You can proceed through topics at your own pace without concern for the pace of the rest of a class, and you can have your tutor's full attention throughout every session. You can have your questions answered as they arise, and receive feedback about your work as you go. This is in stark contrast to most traditional classrooms. Your teacher likely doesn't have the time to slow down the pace of the class for individual students. This can be a major problem if you get lost because it can difficult, if not impossible, to ever catch back up. A private tutor eliminates this concern by giving you as much or as little time as you need to fully understand a topic. So whether you are struggling with a particular subject or are ready to move on to something else, your private tutor has you covered.
Varsity Tutors puts a premium on making sure that your tutoring sessions are as convenient and flexible as possible. Our live learning platform allows you to meet with your private tutor either in person or face-to-face online. This gives you the flexibility to meet your tutor at a time and place that works best for you. You will likely get more out of your tutoring sessions if you are comfortable, so we recommend choosing a place that you feel is most conducive to studying.
Varsity Tutors can help connect you with a management tutor who can help you gain an edge in the business world by helping you develop the skills you will need on the job in a business setting. Recent Management Tutoring Session Notes
The student and I looked at reading concepts behind fiction passages. We looked at components of a story, and talked about different types of figurative language. We then did a sample passage where I showed the student what I meant by active reading. After I showed her how to actively read she did one longer passage on her own.
The student's test is Saturday. Went over corrections for practice test and strategies for math. The student was able to do most of the problems when she went over it the second time. She made notes on ratios, percentages, and geometry. Familiarity with type of questions is the main place for us to focus.
Reviewed practice test performance from last session. Focused on incorrect vs. omitted questions and strategy. Reviewed math concepts from test and outlined test strategy to meet student score goal based on practice test.
Today was our last session before the student takes the test. We went over the second math section. He did well. Next, we talked a bit about the components of the essay. We worked through some overall test-taking strategies. Finally, we reviewed synonyms and fill-in-the-blanks. I think he is well prepared.
Student just got back from camp, and in the break, has forgotten much of what we covered. Today was a lot of time reviewing and going over concepts that we had done before, such as fractions, decimals, and percentages. Once she remembered that, we worked on surface area and volume problems. I also gave her some worksheets to continue working on as homework.
I'm not worried about his performance on that quiz as he has since mastered that material and gone beyond it, but we will spend time going over it to make sure he remembers the steps and doesn't make a mistake because he hasn't seen them recently. We also spent some time going over his reading.
