Latin Tutoring review by Neicea in Orland Park, IL
Today, the student and I worked through some of his Spanish workbook, reviewing key vocabulary, conjugation of regular verbs and proper pronunciation/ spelling. I asked that he make several notecards during our session for troublesome vocab and conjugated verbs. Including some quiz cards that I made for him, he now has ~20x notecards to study before next session; he is clear on this expectation.

We reviewed question words, how to say if you like or dislike something. We learned the word "to have" and practiced using it. We made some flashcards of everyday words (family, objects around the house). For homework, the student will draw an image on the back of each flashcard.

Latin Tutoring review by Reyna in Orland Park, IL
In our first session we went over Spanish basics such as the Spanish alphabet, numbers, colors, family members, and common objects. Then we went on to conjugating present tense verbs. The student hopes to expand his vocabulary and so we went over some new verbs and he used them in a sentence. We then went over some written exercises which he did well with the help of the worksheet that laid out the endings of the yo, tu, el, ellos, vosotros, etc. conjugations. Lastly I read aloud a short paragraph and assessed his reading comprehension and ability to conjugate in the present tense. I believe his reading comprehension is good with the help of a scaffold.

Latin Tutoring review by Adrienne in Orland Park, IL
We studied vocabulary. She struggles the most with being able to describe the words in Spanish. She did a really great job with her vocabulary words though and has improved dramatically in less than a week. We utilized various strategies, such as giving her three words and having her choose which didn't fit, and we translated Spanish-English and English-Spanish. We also worked on describing the words in Spanish. She received a B on her retake vocabulary quiz that we prepared for last Saturday, which is a dramatic improvement. It has brought her grade up overall. I think she is really working hard to reach an A.

We talked briefly about the student's visit to a restaurant last night, and then reviewed his questions about the material he had studied this week: pronouns, etc. We also went over numbers and telling time.

Latin Tutoring review by Sergio in Orland Park, IL
We used the student's weekend experience as an opportunity to practice the imperfect and preterit tenses. She learned about greetings in Spanish and the use of salutation titles. She also learned around 25 new vocabulary items (noun, adjectives, and verbs) related to weddings. We then practiced the future tense as she spoke about her plans for next week and other coming days. At the end of our session, we agreed to continue focusing on the distinction between the verbs 'ser' and 'estar,' the preterit and the imperfect, and the use of the subjunctive tense.
