How can a tutor assist you in conquering Latin?

Are you struggling to conjugate verbs in your Latin class? Is this interfering with you becoming fluent in the language? If you answered yes, a private Chicago, Illinois, Latin tutor may be an option to consider. Varsity Tutors can assist you in locating a passionate tutor, who can work with you either online or in person. Your tutor can work around your schedule, being flexible to meet at a time and place that you select.

It can be difficult to understand how to differentiate between masculine, feminine, or neuter words in Latin. This can cause problems with understanding the language fully. A private Latin tutor in Chicago, Illinois, can help with this. Whether you struggle with lexemes or compound words, your tutor can help you work through each difficult concept. Your tutor can accomplish this by working with you using a teaching style that coincides with your individual learning style. Perhaps you find it most beneficial to hear your tutor speaking in Latin. If so, your tutor can work with you in this way. On the other hand, if you find that flashcards on the alphabet benefit your learning, your tutor can also provide this option. Unlike a large classroom setting, you are the only pupil the tutor is working with. This means that your personal learning style is the only one that will be taken into consideration. You can also feel comfortable asking as many questions as you need to. Also, unlike a classroom setting, you can receive immediate feedback, both on your pronunciation and on any work done during the lesson.

Latin Tutoring review by Salome in Chicago, IL
Today we studied for math test on converting units. Also brainstormed and outlined an essay on perseverance. The student did a good job brainstorming for her essay, but just needed assistance in organizing her points.

We worked almost the whole session on English work.  Reading and answering questions from Julius Caesar the play.  The student has shown significant progress in his work in just two weeks.  His work ethic has become better and his focus is more on academics.  I truly believe if we can work on some basics of writing and just basic organization skills he will have his grades in the high B's.  At the end of the session we went over a history project due in two weeks and a game plan of how to accomplish that.

Latin Tutoring review by Lauren in Chicago, IL
The student and I discussed the format of her previous tests for Personality Psychology, as well as her expectations for the class. She reported that she had a test the next day on Trait Psychology and associated topics. We went through her test review outline one topic at a time and discussed each one in depth. We not only reviewed definitions, but also focused on why certain theories/approaches are important and how they are limited. We used some case examples, as her tests consist mostly of scenarios from which certain constructs must be identified. At the end of the session, we discussed ways to manage test anxiety and reviewed some effective study methods.

I met the student for our first tutoring session to help him prepare for his college algebra test on Friday, November 16.  He is a freshman and is taking a class that is a general college algebra course covering linear and polynomial equations, rational functions, exponential and logarithms.  He had a study guide to help him prepare for the test.  We competed the first half of the problems which were primarily geared towards polynomial factoring and long division and synthetic division.

Latin Tutoring review by Brett in Chicago, IL
The student and I went over the quantitative and math sections of the test. The student was excited about math. As we went along, the student became more confident.  Going through the mathematics section, he showed a greater deal of proficiency.  At the end of the session, we went back over a few of the concepts that had confused him at first.  After further instruction, he got the idea of the distributive property, and became very excited and proud of himself.  I enjoyed working with him and I think that our sessions, while few in number, will prove to have been helpful as he takes the test.

Latin Tutoring review by Andrew in Chicago, IL
This session, we worked through the rest of the second passage we started last time, which the student is going to be tested on tomorrow. As we translated, we worked on the vocabulary and grammar issues that presented themselves. By knowing the basic outlines of the story, he was able to figure out some of the vocab that he didn't actually know, making good use of context clues. When we finished with the translation, we did a bit of review of some of the case usages they're being tested on this time, before finishing up by reviewing vocabulary with flashcards the student had made.
