I am an autodidact. In teaching yourself to learn you also learn how to teach. I hope to pass on the ability and inspiration to teach and to learn.

I believe in teaching to an individual. I want to know my student's strengths and weaknesses, their knowledge base and their opinions. Most importantly, I want to know their motivation. The more I know about a student, the more I can customize lessons and instruction. My tool belt is extensive, but sometimes it only takes a few tricks for a student to overcome obstacles.

I teach to the test. I believe test taking skills can improve scores more quickly than expanding a knowledge base, but it can only take you so far. I will diagnose and remedy gaps in knowledge but I focus on using what a student already knows and improving their ability to apply.

I won't claim to make learning fun, but I will try to make the work less arduous. Work smarter not harder!
