Tutoring review by Natalie in Skaneateles Falls, NY
As a warm-up, I had the student translate various words, phrases and sentences from Spanish to English as a review of all we have learned in the last four sessions. She then needed to recall the parts of the face by filling in the correct vocabulary words to the corresponding parts of the face on the worksheet. I taught new vocabulary for parts of the body with a worksheet. She practiced the new vocabulary by matching the words to the parts of the body on a handout. I practiced conversation for "what did you do today?" and "what you are doing today?" Also, we went over introductions and biography questions and answers through conversation focusing on the informal and formal ways to address "you." Student has shown significant progress from first session until now. It is apparent during sessions that she has reviewed material before our meeting.

I loved meeting the student today! She's very bright, and it seems to me she'll be fine with a little confidence and extra time to get the material. Even though we only had time for a little algebra today, we'll spend half of next time going over her other past material and the other half going over the material she'll be learning in the coming week.

Tutoring review by Catherine in Skaneateles Falls, NY
We went over rounding fractions and estimating products. Then she did her homework. We then practiced finding areas of parallelograms, trapezoids, and multiplying fractions. Then we went over her study guide for her chapter test on Friday, which covered all areas (triangles, parallelograms, rectangles, trapezoids) and we reviewed multiplying fractions and decimals as well as finding percents. Then we did a few extra practice problems covering finding percents of numbers and multiplying decimals.

Tutoring review by Jo in Skaneateles Falls, NY
Today we studied multiplication 1, 2, and 3. I started the session by helping the student with her math word problems homework by helping her understand what information is important and what is unnecessary. She worked each problem and then I checked it. Then we played a game to practice multiplication. In this game we turned over a card from each of 2 piles. The first pile had cards numbered 1 - 3, the second pile had cards numbered 2 -12. We raced to see who could get the correct answer first with the winner getting 1 point for a correct answer. The student won the game.

Tutoring review by Monica in Skaneateles Falls, NY
Reviewed homework for the first half hour. Completed ACT Math drills for the remaining duration. The student is strong with algebra-type questions, but he could use more practice with translating complex word problems into algebra and more exposure to ratio problems, arc angle, arc length, trig, and geometry type questions. We will continue to polish these math skills for the next few sessions.
