Tutoring review by Anne in Rockwall, TX
The student and I worked through problems involving quadratic equations and their graphs. We worked ahead on her material to prepare her for what would be taught in class the following week. She seemed to catch onto the concepts in these chapters quickly.

Tutoring review by Christopher in Rockwall, TX
Today we went over the few problems the student was assigned for homework. The problems were not multiple choice, they were word problems, and problems that required steps and showing all work. We covered a topic that she had not seen too much practice on, linear regression. These problems required using the calculator and interpreting the results. I went over the significance of linear regression, what the values mean, and how to identify those problems. She was quick to pick those concepts up. Also we took a deep dive into radicals and factoring radicals. This sub-subject came into play since we were using the quadratic equation for some problems. Overall, I think she did a great job and I am looking forward to the next session!

I worked with the student in this session to help her study for a quiz in her NSL class on political participation. She had a few concept cards left to complete, so we worked on coming up with specific examples she could use. We then discussed in depth the different types of elections (general, primary, midterm, presidential) as well as voter turnout trends. She had a great understanding of most of the material and had specific questions about the trickier topics and how they relate to what's happening in the news. This demonstrates to me that she is motivated to do well in this class!

We started today with the student's homework. I then came up with some problems so he could practice combining like terms, which is what the homework was on. Then, we did some problems using different websites to practice 1) translating written expressions into mathematical notation, and 2) fraction addition and subtraction word problems, including finding common denominators.
