ISEE Tutoring review by Audrey in Dallas Fort Worth, TX
Today I graded his essay and reading comprehension that I assigned for homework and made sure he understood the idioms I told him to look up. He seems to continue to struggle with editing his own work in essays, so we practiced more on that today. We worked more on reading comprehension and I showed him again how to go back to the passage to prove that his answers are correct. I assigned two more essays and reading comprehension for homework.

ISEE Tutoring review by Lily in Dallas Fort Worth, TX
For our first meeting, I started by discussing the test with the student. We talked about the different types of questions on the exam and that it's perfectly okay if the material seems extra challenging at first. Since she's going to be in fourth grade at the time of the test, she's certainly not expected to know everything. Then we started to try some sample verbal problems--synonyms, sentence completion, and reading comprehension. Vocabulary seems to pose a bit of a hurdle, but we'll work on that as we go. She has a great attitude and energy and I'm excited to work with her.

ISEE Tutoring review by Rebekah in Dallas Fort Worth, TX
The student is delightful to work with and be around. Today we spent half of our time discussing the verbal section and half of our time discussing math. We created some flashcards to build her vocabulary through Latin and Greek roots. We did a few practice problems for the reading section, then moved on to math. She said she didn't like a few things in math, but when we worked on them her ability was definitely there. She just needs to slow herself down. We will continue to work on that and build on her skill set.

ISEE Tutoring review by Kylie in Dallas Fort Worth, TX
The student and I read two passages to start the lesson. She is getting better about referring back to the passages as she answers the questions. We wrapped up the lesson with some quantitative reasoning work. She seems to feel more comfortable with this kind of math than the type found on the math achievement section.

ISEE Tutoring review by Abbi in Dallas Fort Worth, TX
We used the preparation book and went through the verbal section #1 of the ISEE lower level practice test. He was concerned about not knowing many of the words, but when we went through them together he was able to narrow the choices down to two typically including the correct answer. He also completed the quantitative section of the practice test. There were some questions at the end he had trouble with, but overall felt better about that. We spoke about what we would cover in the next session and gave him a reading list that might increase vocabulary. I also mentioned that it would be good to write words and definitions from the practice test that he didn't know to practice.

ISEE Tutoring review by Kim in Dallas Fort Worth, TX
We reviewed her synonym homework. We will work on increasing her vocabulary each session. We discussed the essay. She did very well organizing, supporting and writing her ideas. She enjoys writing and was easily able to finish in the thirty minutes. We also reviewed some more of the Math problems. She is very motivated and enjoys learning. She doesn't hesitate to say if she is confused or needs more instruction. I left her essay, synonym, and math pages to review before her next session on 10/19.
