I have a strong passion for science and want to help inspire more future scientists. I have had experience tutoring since high school where I have taught middle schoolers, high schoolers, and college students. After I finished my high school classes in the morning I would take college courses at UNM in the afternoon. Doing this allowed me to graduate with a high school diploma, an Associate degree of General Science, and an Associate degree of Liberal Arts. I am still attending the University of New Mexico to get a Bachelor of Science in Physics. My hopes are that I can get into a good graduate program for Physics or Astrophysics so that I can become a professor. I tutor Physics, Chemistry, Geometry, Algebra, and Calculus. My favorite subjects to tutor are Physics, and Geometry. Physics and geometry are my favorite subjects to tutor since I am very passionate about physics and believe it can be taught at every level of education. Why geometry is a favorite might have seemed weird at first, but Einstein himself believed geometry is a branch of physics not math. This is why physics is for all ages. I focus on improving the students understanding of the subject. Then I focus on teaching them what critical, creative, and/or logical thinking they need to apply to the subject. For example I will start by ensuring the student has a vivid understanding of how gravity and acceleration are related before teaching them how a pendulum works or how to solve for the path of a rocket. I believe that by knowing how to critically think for a subject allows you to apply what you have learned for life, this also makes studying for finals much easier in the future. Outside of school I enjoy listening to music, working with computers in general and learning other languages. I enjoy improving who I am by meditating, reading, and exercising every day.

Im a recent graduate of Amherst College, in Massachusetts. Im originally from Colorado, but now Ive found myself starting my life in Chicago. I double-majored in Biology and Russian (strange combination, I realize), and I also took a significant number of classes in our schools Theatre and Dance department. I love sitting down with a good book, sci-fi in particular, or just re-reading my well-worn copies of The Hunger Games or the Inheritance Cycle. My first introduction to tutoring started as volunteer work back in 2009, when I assisted my old math teacher in facilitating middle school math club. One year later, I was hired by a local Kumon center, where I worked as an education assistant for both math and reading. At the Kumon center, I worked with a variety of ages, from 3-16, on subjects ranging from basic addition and subtraction through beginning calculus, and from basic sounding out of words to interpretation of Shakespeare and beyond. I also worked as an assistant teacher at my aerial dance studio, working with the performance program for 8-13 year-olds. Once in college, I wound up working as a teaching assistant for the introductory biology lab in my sophomore year, and I worked as a peer tutor for our colleges Russian department as well. I also worked with a non-profit called Reader to Reader that paired grade-school students with a college-age reading buddy to read and discuss books. When Im not working, I enjoy doing ballet and training as a circus artist. Ive been training trapeze and aerial fabric for 7 years, and Ive been performing for 6. I also really enjoy spending time with cats, sewing, and exploring unknown cities, and not necessarily in that order.

However, I have learned to be versatile as a travel nurse.Currently, I am teaching Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, and Nursing Concepts at a small College of Nursing with senior-level students. As my students have learned, I really just love to teach! I have seen and done enough to be confident about most concepts in my nursing career.

I graduated Summa Cum Laude with Bachelors in Electrical Engineering in 2013. I’ve also received Department Honors for Academic Excellence in Mathematics from the Chairman of the Math Department. I’ve attained many other accolades that I am truly thankful for.Teaching has always been my one true passion. I have over seven years of tutoring experience, in the US and overseas. So, my multilingual and multicultural background helps me cross such barriers and connect with students better. Due to my vast experience, I’ve developed sophisticated communication techniques and understanding of students’ psychology that helps me pinpoint and help overcome the academic weaknesses with swift precision.I think it’s more important to lead students to the answer rather than simply delivering it. This instills the logic behind the answer and the process, and helps them think independently and analytically. Where appropriate, I employ the Suzuki method and have found that to be very effective.I mostly tutor math, reading, and writing courses. I am very experienced with test preparation subjects such as SSAT/SAT and ACT. Please see my profile for a full list of subjects. In my leisure, I like to dabble in music. I’ve studied Music Theory in my early years, and I play multiple musical instruments, including the piano. Music still remains a creative outlet for me.I also strongly believe in giving back to society and setting a good example, so I actively partake in philanthropic endeavors. Currently, I serve as a Board Member of the United Nations Association in Miami.

I am a university undergraduate student at Rutgers University currently working towards a Bachelor of Science in Physics. I have been interested in art (painting, drawing, and photography) for most of my life, and it has majorly affected the way I think and interact with the world. I love traveling but also enjoy spending time at home, mostly gaming with my online friends. I have some research experience in high school, specifically in microbiology and material science. The academic subjects that I enjoy the most are science and math and have tutored the younger siblings of friends in such. When it comes to teaching, I find that a strong connection with the student is important, as well as recontextualizing the topic in terms of things that the student personally enjoys, whether it is games, or movies they have recently watched.
