I have a Master degree in Business Administration from Texas Southern University. I also have more than five years of experience in Tutoring Moths and French respectively from overseas, France, Senegal and in the United States at Houston Independent School District. I love tutoring French, my general education was in French (Elementary, Middle school in France}. My tutoring experience in Moths was amazing, my students made tremendous results after their first month. My teaching philosophy essentially consist of teaching and re-teaching. So consistency is one of my strategy used, combined with regular quizzes to evaluate the student's knowledge. I love to go to the movies on my free time.

In all of these positions, I helped students craft writing assignments from a broad range of majors, which gave me insight into a variety of subject matter and shaped my mentoring skills.In addition to this multidisciplinary experience, my time St. Edward's and UT Austin honed my tutoring skills. I have excellent and patient communication skills and have the ability to deliver honest and constructive written and oral feedback in a calm and compassionate way. I deepened my understanding and application of rhetoric, local issues (grammar, spelling, punctuation) and global issues (argumentation, organization). At all of these writing centers, I improved at assessment through filing reports after every session, and collated and created handouts or edited older ones. Over the years I have developed my ability to mentor ELL students since many, especially at St. Edward's and the UWC, were international students and this has furthered my ability to work in an ELL context. The pedagogical roles I have filled have convinced me of the effectiveness of individual consultations in developing students' writing abilities because they offer both in-depth analysis of form and content and active learning.

I am a graduate from the University of North Texas. I received my M.S degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. I am passionate about biomedical research. I have been a biology and French tutor for more than four years. Ever since I was a preteen, I've wanted to work in the educational field. I'm a bioengineering student at Rice University. For the duration of my academic career there's always been one thing that's bugged me above all else. Watching a student fail to understand something and a teacher being unable to convey it to that student. I would often find myself offering to help, after either the student or teacher had given up on the question. I found that frequently the problem wasn't in the difficulty in the material, but in the method of instruction. Some people just have a different way of looking at things and might need a more unconventional explanation. I apply this line of reasoning throughout my life, both in my engineering work and while working with friends trying to help each other understand difficult concepts. Sometimes all it takes is a different approach.

Poet Galway Kinnell espoused that it is "sometimes... necessary to reteach a thing its loveliness." In this poem, "Saint Francis and the Sow," we learn that everyone grows, and sometimes we have a direct hand in that growth. Teaching, to me, is that guiding hand. I believe that teaching, whether it be to one student or 200, is the most important task in all of human history; therefore, education and knowledge are the most noble pursuits in that history. If you are here, it means that you have accepted that creed, and you've already begun the journey.

I have an MA in English from The Catholic University of America, an MFA in Shakespeare and Performance from Mary Baldwin College, and a BA in Liberal Arts from St. John's College of Annapolis. My favorite subject to tutor is Writing, but I also enjoy doing test prep -- tests can be a fun challenge for the student, and I love helping students to see it that way! I believe that any subject can be fun if you look at it in the right way. I am an English geek, in love with all aspects of language, and I've been told that my enthusiasm is infectious. My second love is the theatre, and I am active in the Austin theatre scene. I also enjoy playing the guitar, hiking, and playing soccer.
