Finished the math section, ran a little long, assigned him the math section to work through again in his own time and show his work on the ones that he KNOWS how to do, and we'll go over the ones he's still shaky on.  Please pick up the ACT Practice Tests for after your vacation, and we'll start work on strategies for other sections once you return.  See you next Tuesday.

The student and I worked on grammar for today's session. He's struggling with punctuation, so we spent a lot of time on comma usage and the various sentence components that he should be able to pick out. We'll continue practicing this over the next couple weeks. As far as math is concerned, he needs to work on trig and geometry. For tomorrow's session we'll review all the trigonometry he needs to know.

Chapter 1-5 and mock exam from previous class done. Reinforced concepts that the student felt may be hard.  After this review, I can confidently say the student is well prepared for the chapters we review and will score at least a 95%, if not a 100%, on this section of the exam.

Tutoring review by Linda in Windcrest, TX
The student and I met for the first time today.  We did more of an assessment so that I can get an idea of where she is. There are about 10 letters and sounds that she did not recognize. I started off introducing her to the letter "h" by making a web diagram with 4 lines coming from the circle. Together, we thought about 4 words that started with the letter h and placed them around the web. This helps so that she can recognize what familiar objects start and sound with the letter h that are around her. (ex. Hat, horse, house, hammer) I then introduced her to the sight word "like." I had her frame me the word "like" on each page to be certain that she could recognize the word. We will continue to work with this book.
