Education, from science to math, english to history, allows us to have new lenses through which to see our world. Mastering content gives us a cognitive framework through which we can process and understand new information from the world around us. Knowledge is critical for one's own success in the world as well as a requisite for a well functioning democracy. If you do not have a fully formed internal logos, you are at the whim of others determinative narratives and little more than a passenger on your ship through life. My goal is enable individuals to be the captains of their own ship.

I am a Family Medicine Physician Assistant with a strong background in Orthopedics. I am a member of the Phi Alpha Honor Society for Physician Assistants. I am a lifelong learner who loves to work with others to achieve their educational and professional goals.

I am an experienced classroom teacher and tutor who loves helping my students discover the answers to the simple and complex problems most relevant to their lives. I have taught in three countries and have a passion for both language and the power of an excellent STEM education. Hello, my name is Kerem and I am a fourth year student at the University of Akron studying Biomedical Engineering. I have been a tutor at the University's library for 2 years and this is where I found my passion for teaching others. I love math and I love to see others slowly fall in love with it too. Even if I can't make you fall in love with math, I promise that I will give you a new found respect for it.

I am passionate about helping students. I understand other students needs and how to make insensible content finally make sense and click. I have been tutoring for over 2 years at a refugee tutoring center, helping refugees adapt to their lives socially and academically. I have tutored people of all ages, including elementary-school-aged, middle-school-aged, high-school-aged, and adults in all types of subjects. After every class, my students are excited to come back for more!My teaching philosophy is to not just help students rotely memorize material, but make them truly excited to learn and increase their essential critical understanding of the subject.I am currently a student at Duke University, working towards a degree in molecular and cellular biology (which is my favorite subject to tutor!). However, I also tutor in English, math, ACT/SAT prep, almost any subject that you may need!In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends, listening to music, baking, and drawing.

I am confident in my teaching style because it is somewhat laid back with lots of structure and fun activities.

My goal is to make connections to what students already know and how the skills relate to real world situations to help with student understanding. Also, I am ready to work with students to determine what is the best way for them to grasp a better understanding of a concept.

I graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor's degree in Spanish, and minors in both Gender Studies and Children's Studies. I've worked with youth in various roles: as a nanny, an advocate, a shelter care provider, and a tutor. I tutor math, reading, and Spanish. I use a strengths-based approach to meet students where they are, assess areas of growth, and provide the individualized attention required to challenge students and help them grow.
