We started with numbers 1-59 and then time. I gave the student lots of vocabulary. In addition to the numbers themselves, they have vocabulary like morning, afternoon, evening, noon, midnight, quarter past, half past, quarter till, etc. We did some practice with this new vocabulary. Lastly, I showed them the hours for various French locations so they could see how the time was shown and think about military time. I suggested that the kids get together and practice giving each other times and saying the times as homework.

The student's next test in school is going to be on grammar and verbs. Today we mainly worked on verbs and how those verbs work inside of a phrase. I gave him a series of verbs from different grammatical groups. He did a good job. Most the mistakes he made were because of a lack of focus. He had a pretty good understanding of verbs. We ended the session with a conversation in French because I also wanted him to practice his pronunciation.

For this session, the student and I reviewed the new unit she is learning, and we discussed the new vocabulary that includes locations in a typical city. I started by asking her about her hometown and I challenged her to use adjectives to describe the places. We then completed activities using the four-skill approach: listening, speaking, writing and reading. She wanted more practice with the new vocab and we drilled the material in a couple different ways. Overall, she feels more confident about the material, and she has indicated that she aced her unit exam.
