My name is Fabrizio, and I am a physical volcanologist. I largely work on the quantitative characterization of volcanic deposits and products in order to understand the dynamics of the eruptive events that produced them. I am currently post-doctoral Associate Research Assistant in the School of Earth and Space Exploration at Arizona State University, working in the research group led by Prof. Amanda Clarke. I was born in Sardinia (Italy), and I achieved my Master at the Universita degli Studi di Cagliari in 2005. I am a geology major and focused my interest on volcanology and igneous petrology, with particular interest to explosive eruption physical processes. I achieved my PhD at the Universite de Geneve (Switzerland) under the supervision of prof. Costanza Bonadonna and working mainly on volcanic particle characterization, dynamics of magma fragmentation and tephra dispersal and sedimentation

I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in English as a Second Language from Northern Arizona University. I was a teacher for 13 years in the SUSD school district where I taught grades 2-4. During the summers I worked with talented youth by teaching a pre-algebra course to 4th graders at Arizona State University. Throughout my career I have taught an array of learners and have developed many skills to meet individual needs. Throughout my teaching career to now, I have coached volleyball. I have coached at a variety of levels and age groups ranging from 11yrs-18yrs. I have a great passion for helping students succeed and have the patience and creative skill-set to make that happen. In my free time I enjoy playing volleyball, riding my bicycle with friends, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

I've worked in numerous studios both large and small. I've mixed on consoles and venues both large and small. I graduated from Duke University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Psychology and minor in Chemistry. When I graduated, I decided to take some time off before medical school, so I completed my Master's in the Science of Health Care Delivery at Arizona State University. Right now, I am in the midst of the medical school admissions process, but hopefully, it will conclude soon. I have a comprehensive understanding of subjects ranging from the social sciences to math. I also tutor a "5th Hour" class each day that focuses on English and Math prep for the Arizona state-mandated AIMS test that all high school students must pass to graduate. In this class we use word problems which students focus on breaking down grammatically to then solve them mathematically. The students also have an opportunity to create their own word problems each week and then "teach" the class how to solve the problem they've created. I have been an educator for over 18 years and enjoy helping students reach their academic goals and teaching them character education as well to give them the skills they need to be successful and highly productive adults. I taught all three of my children to read & print when their fathers work had us traveling most of the year. It was challenging & so fun ... but learning should be:)!The most important thing I did as a parent & educator at that time was to learn a new skill while teaching my kids because it helped me empathize so much with all the information overload that we have a tendency to put on their growing brains & it reminded me of what it feels like to not get something right away when it is so easy for everyone else. Because of my ADHD this skill was so hard & so challenging to learn bc there was so much information & it was all new! Normally that would be fine but all of the students learning with me picked it up so easily . I had to work twice as hard & study twice as hard as my fellow students but it was totally worth it . Not only was it worth it for me to take risks & keep trying even though I didn't get it (boy , I was frustrated at times)but it immensely helped as a parent & educator to slow down , to celebrate any & all attempts made , and to breathe ...with enough practice, patience & encouragement my kids or students would get it.
