Hello! I tutor Spanish. I earned my B.A and then my M.A. in Spanish at Arizona State University with a focus on Latin American Studies. The value I place on having studied Spanish and associated studies is endless: travel becomes much more meaningful; appreciation of arts, music and culture is much more fulfilling; and everyday conversational interaction, whether it be in work relations or attending cultural events, is more satisfying.
Other subjects that I have had the opportunity to study at both ASU and Phoenix Community College include Italian, Portuguese, and Music.
If I were to subscribe to a philosophy in teaching or tutoring, it would stress the importance of getting involved. Languages are especially fun and relevant if you make the effort to become part of the world they stem from. Real world situations are an essential part of putting it all together.
Q & A
What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe that any subject that you study becomes easier to learn and much more meaningful if you can relate and find parallels in the real world. My favorite subjectslanguage, history, art, and musichave become such an essential part of my life because I make the effort to make them a part of my life experience.
