Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, we covered lessons in a workbook. She did the homework I assigned, and I showed her how to do the problems that she struggled with. I see lots of progress because she is able to solve problems that she couldn't get at first, and she's refusing to give up. I taught her lessons on fractions, decimals, and rounding. Negative numbers still trick her at times, but she is slowly understanding them."
"Today, we covered many math concepts related to algebra and strategies to problem solving in competitive math tests. Problems involved covered square roots, averages, sums, fractions, mixed numbers, rational functions, slope functions, and graphical methods. Work was shown to clarify the problems that were not understood."
"Today, we covered more on distributing binomials to give higher order polynomials. I taught the student a new addition method that breaks the numbers into smaller pieces so he can handle them better. He did most of his work on his own this session while I watched and occasionally corrected him, so he has made progress. With more help and coaching, I can help him find similar tricks to increase his math skills."
"Today, we covered negative numbers, slope-intercept, distance equation, solving for x, a little on functions, and basics of geometry. We worked through her worksheets and my worksheets on problems in those areas. We also touched on radicals. We will continue to review these areas and practice. I will offer some GED practice drills as well."
"Today, we covered simplifying algebraic fractions, factoring, and cubic equations. The student always has a positive attitude toward the material. He is very confident in his work. I left him with extra practice. Aside from going over the review packet I created for him, I will also create a review practice exam for his exam coming up with a mixture of topics we covered that he had trouble with. This is to ensure that he doesn't make mistakes again and that he is careful and meticulous when solving the problems."
"Today, we covered system of equations for the student to be better prepared for her test tomorrow. We reviewed how to tell which method is better for certain problems. We covered the substitution, elimination, and graphing method. My suggestion for her was to slow down a bit. She knows what she is doing but is in a rush to finish it, so she was making minor errors. She said she felt better about the types of problems we went over."
