What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is that everyone is capable of anything! It is the effort that you put in that determines your success.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would sit down with them, and then get to know them and their way of learning so that I can do my best to teach them the best way for them.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I can help a student become an independent learner by teaching them how to study on their own, and by helping them find out how they learn best.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I would tell them that they are fully capable, and everyone needs to practice in order to do better.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would break the concept down and simplify it so that they can understand it better.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
The strategies I find to be most successful are breaking down problems into smaller parts in order to understand the problem as a whole better. It is important to make sure every portion of the problem is understood.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
Repetition and question asking are key in making sure a student understands a topic. Asking them what they think instead of handing over the information with no feedback is better because it ensures that the student is really grasping the subject matter and is engaging.
