What is your teaching philosophy?
To help a student get engaged again in a subject they're probably loathing, I would ask them questions about what they like. Life is vastly interconnected; therefore, I would draw the line between the student's personal interests and the material at hand. If they can be wowed about how the world works, then it inspires one to dive in head first to the content.
