I am an incoming sophomore at the University of Michigan's school of engineering. I am majoring in computer science and minoring in creative writing. Math is one of my best subjects and I was in the top accelerated program throughout middle school and high school. As a tutor, I think it's most important to teach something you're passionate about, because then you will not only educate the person you're tutoring -- you will inspire them.

Tim... I am entering my sophomore year at the University of Notre Dame studying Business and Psychology. I have experience teaching summer school math to grade school and high school students along with private tutoring. I am most comfortable in tutoring math subjects but can also tutor science classes and the ACT.

...Mathematics. In my opinion the key to being a successful tutor is being able to explain the material in multiple ways, thus finding the path that best suits the particular student. I believe that Mathematics does not have to be scary if you keep an open mind and a positive attitude. Outside of tutoring I love lifting weights, reading novels, baking sweets that I can share with family and friends, and playing the piano.

I entered the teaching field for two reasons: I enjoy math a lot, and, more importantly, I love helping students. Growing up, my teachers had a very large impact on my academics, as well as my life outside of school. My aim is to inspire my students in a similar way, so that they can be excited about being life-long learners who seize every opportunity that comes their way.

...typical tutoring session, my method is to identify what specific concepts the student is struggling with, show them how to approach those concepts correctly, and then go through problems that I can then walk them through.
