The student worked on standard conversions such as inches/feet, feet/miles, ounces/pounds. She has a good grasp on when to divide and when to multiply when converting units, so she should be able to do well on her quiz. She also worked on reading comprehension and expanding vocabulary, reading a piece titled "Searching for Extraterrestrial Life."

We worked on practice probability problems. We began with simple probability and next we practiced doing problems that dealt with arrangements of items or permutations. We then did practice problems that dealt with combinations of objects, in these problems order does not matter. We practiced binomial expansion and then did a couple of practice problems from different topics.

Math Tutoring review by Derek in St. Louis, MO
Topics: equations of conic sections, steps to simplify word problems. Progress: the student and I went over the remaining material that she had for her final exam. We worked on factoring. I think that she will be able to address this and do well on the bulk of the questions on her test. She was very strong with other equally-difficult topics, which is a good sign. I think she will be able to get through her test successfully. She has worked very hard and has made excellent progress since our last session.
