How can a tutor assist you in conquering Writing?

Next to reading, writing is probably the most important thing your child may learn in their early school years. Writing is used throughout your child's school years to indicate they have gained knowledge in all other subjects, even math. Without good writing skills, it's nearly impossible to get into a good college, or to get most jobs or participate in most careers. It's important for your child to build proper writing skills early on so that they may continue on using their writing to learn and demonstrate learning, as well as to communicate properly in this day of email and instant messaging. To get your child on the right track with their writing, you might want to consider connecting with a private tutor for them. Varsity Tutors may help you find a tutor in St. Louis, MO, to try to help your child create a study plan that works to help them understand their writing studies.

Whether it's learning how to sequence sentences to tell a story, learning to use the active voice in expository writing, or learning to outline with a purpose in fiction or nonfiction writing, your child may benefit from private tutoring. In their class, they turn in each writing assignment along with up to 30 or more other students. The teacher, or teacher's assistant, may not possibly give each student their full attention and help each student to improve, even though they might do an excellent job at trying. The fact is, your child may have a one-on-one tutor who is concerned specifically with their learning, their writing, and their progress.

Writing Tutoring review by Alison in St. Louis, MO
The student and I went through the discussion questions for the final unit in her philosophy course, a unit covering philosophical approaches to beauty from Classical Antiquity to Schopenhauer. I then helped her brainstorm and draft responses to an end-of-course reflection piece.

Writing Tutoring review by Sona in St. Louis, MO
Student A: We worked together on her essay assignment for school. It's great to see her growth in transition sentences, the use of semi colons, and commas. She's also growing more organized in her essays and the way she shares content. Student B: We reviewed the relative clauses, essential and non-essential.

Writing Tutoring review by Tiffany in St. Louis, MO
Today the student and I made a deal that he could tell me a quick story after every 2 pages of reading, so we made it through most of Go Dog Go that way. I was very pleased with how differently he read it compared to my initial visit - lots of expression, reading the lines smoothly, pointing out things that didn't seem right in the illustrations. We also added to the book that he's been writing. This time I didn't give him any prompt and he wouldn't let me look while he was writing. He did really well in that exercise as well. Overall a rewarding day!

Writing Tutoring review by Abigail in St. Louis, MO
The student and I went over what he's hoping to achieve in the sessions and where he is at in terms of his current skill-set. It sounds like he mainly needs to work on parts of speech through some grammar exercises, as well as some vocab and more complex sentence structures. For the time being I encouraged him to do some writing he can send to me as well as provide some emails that he thinks aren't up to par.

Writing Tutoring review by Jessica in St. Louis, MO
The student was assigned "Into the Wild" and has an in-class essay tomorrow, and had already chosen his essay prompt. We brainstormed and came up with a really solid outline, then played with it a bit and kept trimming it and rearranging it to be even stronger. He really liked the novel and was very animated talking about it. He was more engaged in this session than any other, so it was great! By the end we had a solid thesis, 1-3-1 paragraph outline, and solid points for each paragraph. He is going to text me before our next session on his progress in class/what we will be focusing on next week.

Writing Tutoring review by Frances in St. Louis, MO
This first session with the student, and we went over writing. We walked through the process of how to write an outline and then started writing a five paragraph essay. We got to the third paragraph before the session ended and I plan on having him finish it at our next session. He seems as if he has a lot of potential, but he needs to work on sentence structure, vocabulary, spelling, and grammar. He had difficulty staying on task which I am hoping subsides once he gets in the swing of things with school. Overall, it was a good lesson.
