Studying geometry requires logic, problem-solving, and deductive reasoning skills. You will need to develop strong skills in all of these categories in order to do well in your geometry class. Session Summaries by Geometry Tutors

Geometry Tutoring review by John in St. Louis, MO
Worked through practice test in preparation for upcoming test. Covered finding angles given algebraic equations for the angles and using rules for lines intersecting parallel lines. Also reviewed rules for values of sum of angles in triangles. We had difficulty with two of the items. One he will ask the teacher to clarify. The other was asking for skills and knowledge that will be covered in the next chapter.

Geometry Tutoring review by Amy in St. Louis, MO
The student has a test tomorrow on the areas of plane figures. He was working quite well today; he usually came up with a viable solution. He was also doing well at analyzing complex problems and developing a plan to solve them. On his algebra assessment last week, he was tripped up by factoring, so we will definitely set some time aside to work on that before the final.

Geometry Tutoring review by Alina in St. Louis, MO
Topics covered with the student include finding volumes of prisms, cones, pyramids, and spheres; density problems; proportions with similar shapes; triangle similarity; and area and volume similarity. Progress achieved was a greater understanding of finding volumes of various polyhedrons, solving densities, and solving proportions with similar shapes, areas, and volumes.

Geometry Tutoring review by Beth in St. Louis, MO
The student and I went over chapters 7 and 8 in this session, which included the following topics: ratios and proportions in triangles; similar polygons; proving similar triangles, similarity in right triangles; Pythagorean theorem and its converse; special right triangles (45-45-90 and 30-60-90); sine, cosine, and tangent ratios (soh-cah-toa); and angles of elevation and depression word problems. Like last session, we went over the problems she missed on previous quizzes and exams. This included reviewing certain algebraic concepts like how to factor polynomials to find the roots to an equation; cross multiplication; what makes a parallelogram; and the converse of the Pythagorean theorem (including when you know a triangle is obtuse, acute, right, or not possible). She is continuing to do well and I am impressed with her ability to recall certain concepts and work through tough problems. Next session we will review chapters 10 and 12.

Geometry Tutoring review by Sona in St. Louis, MO
Working with the student today was super fun. She's curious and ready to learn. We worked on surface areas, volumes, and net in order to prep for her quiz. We also worked on how to do conversions and on geometry formulas. She learns things very quickly and isn't shy to ask when something doesn't make sense, which is great.

Geometry Tutoring review by Joseph in St. Louis, MO
Today the student and I reviewed his material on determining loci and constructing figures once again. His only real weakness in any of the material was writing equations to express his solutions, but we will have plenty of time to go back over that aspect tomorrow.
