I am currently a substitute teacher for Clark County School District, predominately working with grades K-8. I have experience tutoring with two different institutions, as well as on a private basis. I am a graduate of the University of Nevada Las Vegas. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and also received a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have tutored in a wide variety of subjects, though most of my experience is with primary and secondary students. I also tutor in test prep, including ACT Reading/Writing, SAT English/Biology, and Nevada state proficiency exams. I am most passionate about teaching psychology, English/writing, reading, and elementary/middle school math. My individual teaching style is flexible, as I feel it is necessary to cater towards a students unique learning style and needs. I believe confidence and self-efficacy play pivotal roles in a students acquisition of knowledge and ability to learn new concepts. I believe it is crucial to provide encouragement, reinforcement, and support to help students realize their unique gifts and potential. In my free time, I enjoy reading, hiking, spending time with my family, and painting.

I have experience as a reading and writing tutor from an elementary school to a graduate school level. It is immensely rewarding to see my students excel in subjects they once feared, but what brings me the greatest joy is watching a student learn to love reading and to discover the deep satisfaction of putting their thoughts on paper.I received my B.A in Creative Writing from Sarah Lawrence College, and I was a Visiting Student in Classics and English at Oxford University. My two great passions in life are writing and education. In my life outside tutoring, I write professionally and am on the Board of Trustees of a nonprofit, early-childhood education center in Harlem, The Ricardo O'Gorman Garden.

Based in Philadelphia but born and raised in southeastern Florida, a love of history has persisted within me since I was a child, and it has been my dream to have the opportunity to share my passion with others, and to get them engaged in the ongoing preservation of our collective past. I graduated from Appalachian State University in 2016 with a Bachelor's Degree in Public History, and I received a Master's Degree in Historic Preservation from the University of Florida in 2018. As a tutor, I specialize in American and European history, and also tutor writing and language arts. My philosophy is learning through creating, and I believe that creativity is the best outlet to learn and retain knowledge.

I have always enjoyed tutoring students one-on-one and look forward to continuing this now that I've moved to Atlanta. I prefer to tutor people in-person rather than online because it is a much more efficient use of our time and allows me to get a feel of how you solve/work through the problems. I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in May 2015. I am currently living and working in the city and have always enjoyed learning. I want to be able to help students find their own joy of learning and I believe tutoring can really help them with that. Being able to understand a subject and come to that understanding on your own, with that little "ah ha!" in the back of your head is an amazing feeling. I believe that tutoring provides guidance for students who may need some extra help to get to that "ah ha" moment. I work as a commercial and academic copyeditor for a number of book publishers, and I also teach English and Philosophy at the college level.
