Education is part of who I am. I have been a student for my entire life and I understand the physical and mental journey that being a student takes you on. Although sometimes difficult, I've always enjoyed every aspect of it. I welcome new challenges and topics constantly and I am proud to say I have proficiency in many. I have a Bachelor's degree in Forensic Science concentrating in toxicology which was awarded to me through John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York. Aside from my science background which includes organic chemistry, biology, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, instrumental analysis, analytical chemistry, physics, and analytical toxicology, I am verse in the arts and have extensive experience with creative writing, theatre, and music performance (specifically vocal, violin, cello, and guitar). I am also bilingual and tutor Spanish for those that wish to learn how to speak, read, and write everyday common Spanish.

Someone once told me that "educating little humans is a mind-boggling process and one that will also enrich your life!" It is the latter that I find to be more accurate and the reason why I love to teach. I strive to create a classroom environment where students are encouraged to be curious and creative, to appreciate each other's differences, and to instill a love of learning. I am honored to be a part of our students' educational journeys.I was born on a military installation in Heidelberg, Germany. My mother was in the Army, and my father was an engineer. For most of my childhood, I trailed behind my mother and father as they embarked on numerous missions in over 30 countries, across five different continents. I finally returned home upon starting my senior year of high school. Upon graduating from high school, I attended the University of Oklahoma where I later graduated with a B.A in Sociology. After college, I spontaneously decided to teach English in Taiwan. During my time in Taiwan, I learned a lot about Taiwanese culture and language. It was here that I relieved how much I enjoyed teaching and decided that I had to go back to school. In the Summer of 2016, I went back to school to pursue my Master's degree in International Education.I am now in my 4th year of teaching overseas, and I could not be happier. By growing up around so many different cultures and customs as a child, it has helped me to find common ground with almost anyone that I come across. Most importantly, it has helped me to connect with my multicultural students and their families. In my previous position as a 1st-gradeteacher at the American International School in Conakry, I made it clear to both the students and parents that I wanted to set a positive and inspirational learning environment. During activities, I encourage students to speak in their native language to convey thoughts and feelings about specific pieces of literature or to deconstruct a difficult math problem. By speaking both their local language and English, they were able to communicate and collaborate more effectively and thus were more likely to take risks and learn from them. In my current position as a 3rd grade teacher in Saudi Arabia, It is not uncommon for someone to walk into my classroom and see several students nestled in the reading corner, reading a "Just right" book, or to see students using Seesaw to demonstrate their knowledge of various text structures in a nonfiction book. This free and relaxing environment is what I thrived in as an international student and is what I try my best to replicate for the students.

My interest in tutoring started in college. After a confusing lecture, I would often go 1-1 resources like office hours or TA help sessions. Here, I would be able to ask questions that clarified topics that would otherwise take me much longer to understand. Often I would relay this information to my friends, and I felt a sense of fulfillment in teaching it. Being able to help someone along to their "a-ha!" moment and share in that experience has been one of the greatest joys of teaching. In addition, doing so not only helped them, but also myself in solidifying my understanding of the material. This led me to take on various roles as a TA, both in 1-1 and in group settings later in my college career. My responsibilities ranged from weekly 1-1 sessions with multiple students to giving a review session to a large lecture class.Outside of academics, for all four years I have tutored middle/high school students in music in a 1-1 setting. This was through one of Yale's Dwight Hall service/outreach program. What interested me in tutoring music was the same sense of fulfillment, being able to watch someone progress overtime and see their face as they learn something new and enjoy it!

I am a current student at Washington University in St. Louis, and have been tutoring for the last four years. While I most commonly worked with younger students in the beginning, I gradually took on an influx of older students as my teaching style developed. Because of this, I have experience teaching students from all ages and backgrounds. With my youngest learner ever being 4 years old and my oldest in her 50's, I wholeheartedly believe anyone can learn. I have the experience and desire adapt to each student's unique style of learning in any subject they need; from learning ABCs to multi-variable calculus, I have experience in it all.

Yes, Varsity Tutors connects students from across Chandler's 99 schools and all 17 school districts in the area. Whether your student attends a public school, charter school, or private institution, we can match them with tutors who understand the specific curriculum and academic standards they're working with.

With Chandler's average student-teacher ratio of 16.7:1, many students benefit from personalized 1-on-1 instruction to fill gaps and accelerate learning. Varsity Tutors connects students with expert tutors who can focus entirely on their individual learning style, pace, and specific challenges—something that's difficult in a traditional classroom setting.

Tutors who work with Chandler students understand Arizona's academic standards and how they're applied across the district. Whether your student is preparing for state assessments, working toward grade-level proficiency, or tackling advanced coursework, tutors can tailor instruction to align with what's expected in Arizona schools.

During the first session, the tutor will assess your student's current understanding, learning style, and specific goals. They'll discuss what's working well in the classroom and where your student needs extra support, then create a personalized plan to address those areas and build confidence.

Chandler students seek tutoring across a wide range of subjects, with math and reading comprehension being particularly common in elementary grades, while algebra, geometry, and standardized test prep dominate in middle and high school. We also connect students with tutors in science, English, foreign languages, and AP/honors courses.

Pricing varies based on the tutor's expertise, your student's subject and grade level, and how frequently you'd like sessions. Varsity Tutors works with families to find options that fit their budget—whether that's weekly sessions or intensive support during critical academic periods.

Expert tutors who work with Chandler students have strong subject knowledge and teaching experience. Many hold degrees in their subject areas, have classroom teaching backgrounds, or bring specialized expertise in standardized test prep and advanced coursework.

Simply tell us about your student's needs, grade level, and goals. Varsity Tutors will match them with a tutor who fits those requirements, and you can schedule your first session at a time that works for your family. Most families see a tutor within a few days of connecting.
