I am 22 years old. I graduated from Sacramento State in the fall of 2015 with a B.S. in mechanical engineering. While at Sacramento State, I took multiple calculus courses including differential equations. Also I coached high school volleyball for 3 years at my former high school in Elk Grove. I decided to start tutoring after graduating college so I could share my knowledge with many other students to help them succeed in school. Tutoring for me is comparable to engineering. I love both because I love to solve problems. I hope to teach students to be unafraid of solving problems as well. I tutor Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Trigonometry and Calculus. My favorite subject to tutor is Algebra 1. I like Algebra 1 because that is the beginning of solving equations and I believe that a solid understanding of Algebra 1 is very important for students. My tutoring style is patient and enthusiastic. I enjoy math and I want my students to enjoy it too! My teaching philosophy is you cannot build without tools. In math you need to add every tool to your toolbox that you can because math is always a cumulative subject. Outside of academia I enjoy being around friends and family. I also enjoy most outdoor activities such as running, yoga, hiking, biking, and rowing.

I'm passionate about helping students because I'm passionate about helping people. I have a cognitive disability and despite not having good short term memory, I'm able to leverage my long term knowledge in everyday life, to still function successfully. I grew up in an environment where I was taught that the value of knowledge can be gained or shared from those around me. I'm a social work major and believe that the groups of people most often left unaided are the younger generations and slightly older generations as in the senior citizens.I've worked over the years with nonprofits, charities, after school programs, and youth mentoring groups. I gained my current level of education, recently a Kennedy-King College A.S. graduate, attended Robert Morris University, and currently on track with 90% completion of my B.S.W. at Governor State University and will start the Masters in Social Work next year 2020.I also have Expert certifications in Microsoft Office Expert (Word and Excel 2010). I can tutor a range of subjects, including, but not limited to: English Writing, Reading, Government History, Politics, Biology, Speech, Microsoft Office, and Computer technology. My favorite subjects to tutor are writing, speech, and government. Writing and speech involve characteristics that show the strength of a person's character that may not be instantly perceived on the surface. With government, it's interesting learning the methods laws that are established and impacts they have on its citizens. No matter how far a person goes in life there's always something new that can be learned. Adults can even learn from the youth just as we all learn from our elders.Growth only comes when you can admit to being weak in some areas and knowing when you need help. I encourage students to ask questions as many times as needed despite anxiety about sounding foolish or redundant, their personal understanding is more valuable than the thoughts of their peers around them. I have a personal disability and despite it, I can help encourage others to advance to new levels. Having a disability is just like having a different kind of motivational spark.I have a teaching style that empowers individuals to learn concepts that can be applied to similar problems. I recognize diversity and understand some students are visual, kinesthetic, and/or audio learners. I can connect students to the material by explaining the areas with the most confusion with significant patience.I have various ways to spend my time when I'm not contributing to my own knowledge and those around me. I serve regularly at my church during the week. I like to play sports and workout at the University of Chicago Athletic Centers, as well as play strategy/puzzle/sports games on various game consoles. In addition, I like to watch comedy sketches regarding politics and current events.

I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering at the top-rated University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign and am on the Dean's list. I am a National AP Scholar and was commended by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. I am a competitive swimmer and love to 3D model, do puzzles, and personal projects in my free time. I have always gravitated towards STEM topics and grew to love them as I learned more about them.I learned early on that you know the material well if you can fully explain a subject to a person and have them understand the topic as a result. Helping my peers became a way for me to solidify my understanding of topics. I have found that I enjoy explaining things to others as much as I love learning about the material in the first place. I also discovered that the best way to explain topics is to break the topic down into its base components and to give connections and similarities to other topics. Building a strong foundation is essential to learning more sophisticated, challenging topics.I tutor a wide variety of STEM topics, with math, computer science and physics being the academic subjects that I enjoy teaching the most. I understand that everyone learns in different ways and I understand that what works for one learner might not work for another. My goal is to make sure the learner fully understands the topic and can connect it to other topics and not just regurgitate information.

I am an engineering student at the University of Minnesota's College of Science and Engineering, with plans to major in Aerospace Engineering. When I was young I thought I was terrible at math, but now I realize that I wasn't being taught it in an engaging way, and I didn't have a great work ethic toward learning it, myself. I would like to help others discover the scientist or mathematician in themselves, so they don't have to discover it as late as I did.

Tutoring represents the opportunity to work closely with a student in particular subjects I am passionate about. As a chemical engineering student at Vanderbilt University, I have always been passionate about learning math and science. I have also particularly excelled in these fields, perhaps due to my passion, and I managed to score a 790 on the math SAT and SAT II. I also took 5 AP Exams as a high school student, receiving 5s in Calculus BS, statistics, computer science, biology, and chemistry. At my university, I received an honors scholarship for my academic performance in engineering, and I currently aspire to continue my education at a higher level. As a tutor, I will motivate students, set clear goals, and help students progress towards a higher level of understanding.

Learning is a habit. I grew up hearing that daily and it gradually sunk in as I progressed in school. I always enjoyed figuring out how things worked and why things happened, as my curiosity knew no bounds. As I matured, I discovered how to channel this curiosity into more productive avenues by working in study groups, helping friends answer their own questions which were usually quite similar this mine, This helped develop my confidence in teaching others through college, summer camps and medical school. I love working with different age groups as they all bring unique learning opportunities. My degrees have given me the skills to cover a wide range of subjects in the sciences and medicine, and to value each person I come across. My aim is to give my students a personalised learning experience composed of great learning opportunities and experiences so they can stay engaged, motivated and prepared for not just their classes but for life in general. Mentoring students as they learn is also crucial to the mental aspect of their growth. I also ensure that clear, practical objectives are given so students can stay focused on tasks and are able to take responsibility for their own future. In addition to this, I use different learning styles visual, verbal, discussions and review sessions as students have different learning styles. Teaching really is a privilege.

I graduated from Wheaton College with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy as well as a minor in Bible/Theology. Since graduation, I have been teaching English overseas in South Korea and the nation of Georgia. In those roles, I was especially proud of the improvements my students made towards clear self-expression in speaking and writing (which was reflected in high TOEFL scores). I've got a knack for identifying an essay's strengths and weaknesses, and for giving specific feedback to make written ideas come to life. In addition, I have a passion for helping students improve their performance in ACT Reading, Writing, and Science. Whatever the subject, I thrive on leading students to moments of clarity and a sense of accomplishment. When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy exploring nature, playing strategy board games, and reading non-fiction.

I recently obtained my Bachelor's of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. Shortly after graduation, I accepted a year-long tutoring job with a high school Senior at a preparatory school in Albuquerque. I provided this student with regular instruction in International Baccalaureate level Biology, which is a rigorous curriculum similar to that of the more commonly known Advanced Placement curriculum.Around the same time, I also worked as a long term Substitute Teacher for Albuquerque Public Schools. During this time, I came to appreciate a wide array of learning styles and teaching techniques. Part of what makes me an excellent Tutor is my understanding of the fact that every student learns differently and that one must be patient while determining the best way to help a struggling student understand a difficult concept. While I am most passionate about Biology, I also tutor Middle School Math and Algebra. I hope to add more subjects as the school year progresses because I love helping students learn, regardless of the topic. In my spare time, I enjoy playing strategic online and console based games. I spend most of my time researching and staying well informed about world news and politics.

Whether your student is preparing for state assessments, working toward grade-level proficiency, or tackling advanced coursework, tutors can tailor instruction to align with what's expected in Arizona schools.

Chandler students seek tutoring across a wide range of subjects, with math and reading comprehension being particularly common in elementary grades, while algebra, geometry, and standardized test prep dominate in middle and high school. We also connect students with tutors in science, English, foreign languages, and AP/honors courses.
