Im Alejandro, PhD in Latin American Literature. For the last 6 years I have taught various undergraduate courses including humanities and social sciences. My broad experience in strengthening students skills on writing, speaking and reading helps them comprehend while enjoying Latin American culture and way of life. I challenge my students to become independent learners engaging with them in interesting, real life conversations that diversify, not only their language, but also personal skills.

I graduated from Swarthmore College in May with degrees in History and Spanish. I have since returned home to New York City and work primarily as an actor, although I am planning to enroll in the Latin American Studies program at the University of Oxford in September. During my junior year of college, I studied abroad in Granada, Spain where I lived with a host family and taught English at a local middle school. This experience of preparing for a class lesson and standing by the chalkboard in front of my students changed my understanding of both language and teaching. While one certainly needs a solid foundation of grammar and vocabulary basics, of equal importance are day-to-day examples and case studies that ground theory in fact. I believe this lesson applies to every academic discipline and I use it when instructing students in European History or English Literature or the PSAT Critical Reading section. In order to achieve a firm grasp over any particular subject matter, one must understand both the raw data - dates, names, sentence structures, vocabulary - as well as the times in life when theoretical knowledge must be made into practical experience. When teaching, I make an effort to pair the fundamentals with interesting and insightful examples that demonstrate why those fundamentals are important. In my spare time I like to read and write and play golf, soccer, and squash.

I believe all students of all ages can increase their knowledge in a subject area. I can provide the correct tools and motivation to help students succeed! I am friendly, honest and detail oriented.I teach English Language Arts and French to middle school students.I have worked with English language learners as well as advanced learners.

As a pre-med student, I think it is extremely important to be able to work with and learn from others. I hope to use my platform as a tutor to both strengthen my own understanding of key subjects and more importantly, encourage others to see the vast importance of learning them.In high school, I played varsity soccer for three years and spent a lot of time playing sports with friends. In contrast, I have also always had a deeply rooted interest in the fields of neuroscience and physics, so I've read on the subjects quite a bit.I am currently working on a Neuroscience major at Northwestern University with a Biochemical Engineering Minor. I hope to use my knowledge of engineering when I'm a doctor to start my own tech business and make a large impact on the field.I look forward to meeting all intellectual challenges and hopefully I can make my clients understand the benefits and many dimensions of learning.

I am a worldly woman with a passion for languages and teaching. I have experience as a Russian teaching assistant, ESL teacher, and martial arts instructor. I would say my teaching style is focused on conversation and interaction with my students. I believe tutoring is an important part of academic success by giving students the confidence and tools they need to succeed. My favorite subjects are Spanish and Russian. I am currently working towards a B.S. in International Relations and Diplomacy as well as Modern Languages with an Economics Minor.

I love to support students and provide "tricks of the trade" to help them crack the toughest test questions.I believe every student has the potential to learn and that the teaching/learning relationship requires 100% effort from the teacher and student. I am an elementary education graduate from Marquette University. I have been an elementary teacher for nine years. Over those nine years, I have taught reading, math, science and social studies. I have also learned to adapt lessons for students that have learning disabilities or may learn in a less conventional manner. My greatest goal as a teacher and tutor, is to foster a love of learning within my students and empower them to seek out and demand a fulfilling and well rounded education for themselves. I have worked with a diverse age group of students, from elementary to university level, with the bulk of my experience with high school and college level work.I have a Master's Degree from the University of Washington in Public Administration and a BA from the University of Texas at Dallas in International Political Economy. Apart from academics, I enjoy photography and kayaking.

Between undergrad and seminary, I led service learning programs for middle school and high school youth in a Washington DC. After seminary, I have been working as a campus minister, most recently at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. There I was a Teaching Assistant for two years. I love to connect subjects to the real world and popular culture to help students more fully understand their homework.
