I am excited to be completing my MA in English and Educational Technology through Morehead State University later this year. I completed my BA in English (History minor) at the University of MichiganDearborn. I earned my AA in Business at Henry Ford Community College. Teaching others how to write and interpret literature is a passion of mine. My goal is to teach composition and creative writing at the undergraduate level. By day, I work at a large health care insurance corporation in the information technology communications department, where I have been accused of being ruthless about grammar and mechanics. I'm frequently sought out by my coworkers to assist with writing and editing. Since I do work in information technology, I'm also asked to train and teach coworkers throughout the company on the various technologies that we use.I'm a proud mother of three teenagers, and oldest sister to six brothers and sisters. I have been tutoring all of them on one subject or another for as long as I can remember. Many people are astounded by my patience and ability to guide both children and adults through difficult subjects. I believe in guiding a student to the answer so that they are able to understand how they got there, rather than just providing the answer. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, spending time outside, collecting teapots, swimming, knitting, and cooking. I'm also a technology fan, so I'm always interested in the latest gadget.

After that experience, I began working in the charter school network teaching 7th grade Algebra for a KIPP middle school. After finishing my two-year commitment to Teach for America, I chose to leave teaching to go to graduate school.After three years in the classroom, I decided to join the Professional Development Design Team for HISD to design resources and trainings for teachers.On a more personal note, I have always been a very active student and leader. I am a graduate of Marmara University in Istanbul, Turkey. I received my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry teaching with a focus on General science and Organic Chemistry. Since graduation, I have traveled and worked in different cities of Turkey and in Uzbekistan. I have been working in USA since 2001. I attended two Universities, Cleveland State University and University of Dayton, in USA. I received masters in Chemistry with a focus on clinical chemistry and masters of educational leadership. I have worked as a chemistry and science teacher 7th thru 11th grades in Ohio. I have been in different positions in school setting, science department head, Science fair organizer, STEM coordinator, assistant director and principal. I have prepared students for local, national and international science fairs. I worked with all students with different levels. I understand sometimes how hard chemistry or science could be. I work with my students gradually and patiently. I analyze the struggle and focus on what my student needs. I believe every student can succeed if we approach with right direction. In my experience tutoring struggling students change their perspective for subjects they are having hard time. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy watching movie and reading that which enriches my life, walking, running, and travel with my family.

I have worked in finance since 1984 with leading investment firms including Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse and Fidelity Investments. I have also taught finance at the college level and I have taught economics and history at the high school level since 1990. Many of my former students went on to study economics at schools like Stanford, Princeton, USC, Wharton and my alma mater, the University of Michigan. I will make the study of finance and economics not only fun, but relevant to your career interests.

I'm a graduate of the University of Washington in Seattle where I received my MFA in Acting from the School of Drama. I did myundergraduate work in Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.Since relocating to Manhattan from the West Coast, I've had the great fortune to teach in a variety of settings-- from privatetutoring, to lead teaching at ESL Language Schools, to leading literacy-based theater residencies in the public school system. My earliestteaching experiences were in college-level English and ESL-- I'm a CELTA-certified ESL teacher, and have always been passionate aboutlanguage and literacy. In recent years, however, I've also been working more and more on privately tutoring Language Arts, Humanities,and Test Prep (SAT, AP, TOEFL) with students at the middle and high school level. I love the challenge of tailoring my lessons to an individual student's needs, and the rewarding process of helping a student find the specific approach and skill set that works for him or her. I thinkit's vitally important to give my students the skills they need to go on and work independently-- so I look at tutoring as partof the developmental process that will have lasting, tangible results.As a parallel to my teaching work, I'm an actor and playwright. I graduated nursing school (BSN) in 2014 from Prairie View A&M University, passed NCLEX on my 1st attempt, and worked as a Registered Nurse for 2.5 years as an OR nurse and a Med-Surg nurse. I recently graduated from medical school (MD) and currently applying to go into residency. I passed both USMLE STEP 1 and STEP 2 on 1st attempt.I've tutored multiple times with other companies while in undergrad and medical school. Effortlessly teaching complex subjects and navigating multiple-choice questions for students is my niche.

I have a passion for teaching reading and writing. I am a public school teacher who has taught over 12 years as a reading specialist, ELA enrichment teacher, and instructional literacy coach.
