I recently received my Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology as well as History of Science, Medicine, and Technology at Johns Hopkins University. At Hopkins I pursued a diverse course load, which allows me to tutor students in a variety of disciplines. I am most suited to tutor science courses such as Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Science but also have a strong background in Mathematics through the Calculus level.I have extensive experience tutoring high school students, both while I was a high school student and while I was at college in Baltimore. I have found that the most successful approach to learning is through communicative and collaborative work. First and foremost, students should understand subjects taught in the classroom through review of homework and exams. Next, students should be able to apply that knowledge to new questions to ensure a complete understanding of any subject matter. I am dedicated to helping both struggling and thriving students excel in the subject in question. While I will work closely with my tutees, I will never just tell them how to answer a problem. Making sure the student is able to solve the problem on his own and understand why this method of solution works is how the subjects can be mastered.

I want to help students gain an enthusiasm, interest, and increased understanding in mathematics. I want them to develop problem solving skills that could help them in their careers and enrich their lives. I have used mathematics my entire career and am aware of it's applications in so many areas from finance to engineering and science. If I can help a student either get past a problem in understanding a concept or solving a problem, or motivate them to appreciate mathematics I would be very satisfied.

English is my native language and my qualifications include a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Management from California State, University, Los Angeles, a 120-hour TEFL certificate and prior work experience. I have completed a Cambridge CELTA course at Swansea University in Wales and I have over three years of ESL teaching experience.I enjoy teaching students and seeing the progress that they make as they learn English. During my time teaching English in South Korea, I especially liked being greeted with Hello, Robyn Teacher, by my youngest students every day and seeing their faces light up when it was time to sing English songs, learn phonics, or practice new scripts and role-plays. Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to teach conversational English to adults, which I find extremely rewarding as well.Overall, I have tremendously enjoyed my previous time spent traveling, learning about different cultures , food, and the languages, meeting and making friends from all walks of life and of course teaching. I've helped high-school students write college papers and tutored them in Latin. Meanwhile, I continually edit my friend's creative writing endeavors.Though I majored in English in college, I was also involved in the Classics and American Studies departments. I even took a Latin course at Oxford while studying abroad. Though I've never tutored anyone in History, its one of my passions. Whether Ancient, European, or US History, I'm always happy to help anyone with their history courses. I also minored in Theater, and adore teaching people to speak confidently in public or in the work place.I strive to teach my students to be able to teach themselves. I was raised in a home that fostered academic excellence and I hope to do the same for my students. While I push my pupils to do their best, I am endlessly patient and caring, continually finding new ways to teach a student. Being an unconventional learner, I am the first to turn to unconventional methods to help a student nail down a concept. I love watching children and adolescents grown and change and adore helping them to highlight their strong points while honing their weaknesses.My father was a high school English Teacher and encouraged me to evaluate my teachers from a young age.
