Hello! I am a native of western Pennsylvania. This is where I grew up, attended high school, and began my college career. I completed my Bachelor of Arts at the University of Pittsburgh in 2011. I left Pittsburgh to attend the University of Chicago, from which I graduated in 2013. I stayed in Chicago to teach at the college level for 2.5 years, before returning to the Pittsburgh area. Underlying my academic experience is my passion for education. I am a first-generation college graduate (or as I like to call it, an "academic immigrant"). This means that I've learned on my own, and often the hard way, about the ins and outs of higher education, so I can understand how challenging - and truly rewarding - it can be. A solid education is as important today as ever, and it really can change your world for the better. I look forward to hearing from you and helping with your studies!

Hi! I am currently a senior at the University of Texas where I will receive my Bachelor of Science in Biology. I have also been accepted into the Doctor of Medicine Program at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine. During high school as well as college, I tutored in a variety of subjects including biology, chemistry, mathematics, and the SAT. I'm very passionate about these subjects because I love to think logically, and I think that learning challenging subjects can be very fun! As for my teaching philosophy, I believe that good practice reaps good results. Instead of constantly repeating information, I like to learn and teach topics through practice problems and walking through each mistake that is made. In my spare time, I like to play video game, play pickup basketball, and weightlifting.

From these degrees, I found my passion for culture and language. At Texas A&M, I helped tutor at evening ESL adult classes and was the TA for two writing-intensive courses in International Current Events and Gender and the Global Modern. In my experience tutoring, I always had the most fun exploring and relating the never-ending complexity of language and culture to our studies. Since graduation, I have volunteered with several non-profits as a translator in Guatemala and a Grant-writer state-side. I also worked part-time at a Children's Home, where I offered free tutoring services for elementary through high school level kids in a variety of subjects during the stay-at-home era of COVID-19. Those courses included Film, American Culture Studies, Speech Communication (which includes Public Speaking), and Popular Culture. Currently, I am an instructor for the Art Institutes. I have been with them for 7 years. In addition to my current teaching duties, I also give lectures in Art History.My research interests include Medical Sociology, Comparative Religion, Video Games, and Narratology.I am passionate about teaching because I think learning is important. I am a graduate of North Carolina Central University. There I received my Bachelor and Master of Art degrees in Criminal Justice with a focus on corrections and sociology. Since graduation, I have spent the majority of my career helping others, including helping individuals who have developmental and cognitive disabilities, as well as supervising others in their work with individuals with disabilities. Three years ago, when I decided to work from home, I found the joy of teaching English as a foreign language to children ages 5 through 17, and it has been a privilege to engage in this work. I've always enjoyed helping others, but I had no idea how incredibly fulfilling teaching would be. As a certified TESOL/TEFL instructor, I have taught students one-on-one for the past three years, and my favorite part of my work has been helping children grow confident in the abilities they don't realize they already possess. I am a firm believer in education because "Knowledge is Power." Knowledge and education grant opportunities in life, and I am dedicated to providing my students with access to those opportunities. Knowledge increases skills, makes goals attainable and enhances one's worldview. Gaining knowledge is a forever investment!
