We reviewed how to perform a factor analysis in SPSS. We went over the steps in how to actually run the analysis and then discussed how to interpret the output. We also reviewed homework questions and a review question that was used to illustrate how to perform a factor analysis. The student had no trouble interpreting the output by the end of the session. We talked about an upcoming quiz and reviewed some of the questions that she might be encountered with on the quiz.

We went through an online homework assignment that contained problems about the properties of logarithms. He was definitely struggling the most with unraveling the definition of a logarithm. With a bit more work on using the definition of a log, I think he can do well on this section.

Tutoring review by Zachary in Jenks, OK
We did a quick review of the quadratic equation, then spent most of our time looking at exponential functions and their graphs and with word problems (mixture problems). The student isn't struggling too much with any of it, she grasps concepts quickly. She does need to practice word problems though. Good attitude as usual. Introduced parent functions (mostly not useful yet, but I felt an into would be helpful for future classes. Also talked about word problem strategy. Extra practice from her book and she'll let me know if she wants more problems. A on the last test!

Tutoring review by Winnie in Jenks, OK
Today we focused on algebraic equations with multiple variables. The student showed me problems that he was working on this week in class. I made example problems for him that were similar to those worked in his classroom, and in addition to making similar problems I made some a little harder! He was initially having difficulty figuring out the harder problems, but after he practiced more he got a better understanding of them. We also reviewed geometric proportions that had algebra applications in it. For example, finding the angle of a triangle if the angles where x, x, and 2x. These types of problems required him to apply more mental understanding of what was happening in the problem. Overall, this was a great session!
