The student and I continued working on his study guide for his midterm. We worked on exponential graphs, rational functions, exponential models, and quadratic functions. He needed less coaching than last time, and was able to organize his work better than last time. Progress!

We went over Chapter 5 related problems from the student's textbook and notes. We did some classroom exercises and about 2 or 3 sets of written exercises of certain sections in the 5th chapter. The student was eager to do things well and was very attentive. He also seemed to have good organization skills and consistent dedication to his studies. I directed him to the review sets and chapter tests in his textbook to get additional practice for his benefit.

Tutoring review by Katie in Oklahoma
Her class is moving on to RC circuits, so we reviewed exponential decay and growth in these type of circuits. We started to discuss magnetism and the relationship between electric and magnetic fields. After our discussion, she seemed to better understand the derivation of cyclotron frequency covered by her professor. Completing the calculations still seems to trip her up a bit. I will prepare a set of practice problems this week, which we will go over in our next session.

Tutoring review by Iris May in Oklahoma
The student and I worked on several drawing prompts to support her self-expression. She was able to express herself without any grammar errors in tonight's session! We also read stories, and I asked a lot of open-ended questions and modeled thinking skills to encourage her to express herself. We also worked on a few reading comprehension worksheets to help her with her listening skills. She was slightly distracted in tonight's session; however, I was able to reengage her to stay on task.

Today, the student and I went over improper integrals. We worked through several different examples. While doing so, we got to practice taking limits, doing integration by parts, integrating using the inverse tangent function, and doing integration by u-substitution. We also briefly discussed differential equations and how to use separation of variables and integration to solve separable differential equations.
