Summer Tutoring review by Jared in Evergreen Park, IL
The student and I worked on spelling, Math, Literature. I showed her trying to spell hard words three a few letters at a time can help her. She seems to have a great understanding of her Math and we had a brief review of Romeo and Juliet. I don't have any concerns from this session.

Today, we did some extra chapter 9 study for his math test - we spent a lot of time on graphing quadratic equations, but he later told me that they wouldn't be required to graph them on the test even though it was covered in the chapter, so then we focused on practice problems throughout the book on the other sections of the chapter that would be tested.

Summer Tutoring review by Ashley in Evergreen Park, IL
The student and I focused most of our time and energy on preparing for an exam in language arts. He had to complete a practice test (the same as the real test) to prepare. It was a graphic organizer that required him to analyze and draw conclusions from the provided texts. I helped him to utilize analytical writing skills, such as rereading, note-taking, comparing/contrasting, and strengthening an argument with textual evidence. We used the provided rubric to compare his responses. We also took time out to work on scheduling out his next couple of weeks of school work. He had a few other tests coming up, and we worked out a study schedule to prepare for those. Also, he had a new report card demonstrating that his grades had improved overall.

During this session, the student and I completed her assignments in chemistry. This included mostly review questions on chapter 19 about radioactive decay, half-life, nuclear fusion, and nuclear fission. These are complex topics but she seemed to have a good understanding of them by the end of the section.

Summer Tutoring review by Cassandra in Evergreen Park, IL
Today the students and I reviewed writing sentences in the subjunctive to describe information that we deny or do not believe (dudo que, no creo que, no es obvio que, es impossible que). We independently wrote our own sentences relevant to our lives and we then shared and evaluated each other's work with each other. Then we practiced speaking spontaneous phrases that we created based off of what we believed and did not believe about people in one of student #2's magazines. Finally we reviewed the verb haber going over its singular conjugation in the present (hay), preterit (hubo), and present subjunctive (haya). For this, we created spontaneous spoken sentences to describe what was currently in the room and what was at the restaurant that they celebrated their birthday at the day before.
